pajonica's mgs 2010

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

A, that's very exciting. Just keep us posted please

Tokyo, Japan(Zone 10a)

A, not so far from the beach I guess around 12 miles as the crow flies or about half hour by car. Today I have found hundreds of mg seedlings coming up all over the garden! I'm scared of planting something I don't know as I fear it may take over.
I wouldn't know a rare seed from a pebble. LOL!

After all the talk about #7, I had to go have another look. Ok, it's my favorite too. :o)

Tokyo, Japan(Zone 10a)

Hold on I have to go back and look at 7 now! LOL. Hey thanks! Yes Kohkan I love that too!!

Kohkan is one of my favorites because of the large bloom, amazing color, and profuse bloomer. The first year I grew it, it was my #1 favorite that year! It is a real beauty!!! I am glad that Jon's came true from seed and everyone is enjoying his vine and all those gorgeous blooms! A truly beautiful Japanese cultivar!

Mesilla Park, NM

I GOT my seed box.!!!!

I got a couple of seeds that I've been looking for and wanting for about 25 years...

Mary's Bean, Crucifix Bean, Merremia discoidesperma

and several other rare beans and Merremia's, mucuna and species mgs. I'm not sure I even want to try germinating the one above, I'm afraid to ruin it.

The first time I saw these beans were in Venezuela in the artisan shops, these were used as jewelry and had silver and gold around the seeds, that was 25 years ago maybe longer. I never thought I would get Mary's Bean though, that is about the rarest there is. I'll take photos of the seeds and it won't be till after class though.. it may be Friday before I post again, have school all week.

And Jon, you need to walk the beaches in Spring and look around for some beans, I'll post photos, some will look really dirty, and look like stuff has stuck to them so they will not look real pretty, but, you can definitely tell they are not shells. When you see them in stores though, they have been polished and cleaned. Once you see them, you may have already seen some at the artisian shops made into key chains, bracelets, etc.. Once they drill a hole in them, of course they are no good anymore for germination. So, if it looks round or like a heart shape, put it in a bucket..

Very cool, A!!! I can't wait to see a photo of your goodies! :-) Our shoreline here is about gone because of all the storms. Whatever washes up, then washes back out to sea because there is no place for them to stop.

A, so excited for you. I love the bean sds too, bean flowers are some of the most gorgeous in the plant kingdom, imho

Tokyo, Japan(Zone 10a)

I love this bloom! No idea what it is!

Jon, it's a beauty, so pretty in pink.
No clue to it's id

Tokyo, Japan(Zone 10a)

I think it may be a variant of pink silk?

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Oh my! THAT is a beauty, Jon! No idea ... obviously a cross! :-)

szarvas, Hungary

Or a variant of Miko Mai.

Tokyo, Japan(Zone 10a)

I never planted Miko Mai. so it's unlikely to be that Dany.

Tokyo, Japan(Zone 10a)

That should be Miko no Mai, Sorry.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

If the bloom came from my seeds, it wouldn't be Miko no Mai as I have never grown that cultivar. That is one that I am planning on growing next year. Jon - I'm not sure what it is. Sometimes the recessive genes show up after several generations, so there is no telling! But it sure is neat to see the blooms when they do!

Every seed will grow a unique vine! Some may come true, but many will not! Especially with crosses. And if vines are grown close together. My hummers go from bloom to bloom and I KNOW pollen from their beaks travels from bloom to bloom and cultivar to cultivar ... Bees, too!
