Here are some of the mg vines I grew this year, full credit to BeckyGardener, who both sent me the seed and advised me on growing them.
pajonica's mgs 2010
paj, lovely flowers. And what was Becky G's advise on growing them? I have Japanese MG seeds for next year and would like to have as nice a bloom as you did. :o)
I have tonnes more but it's such a labor posting them all one at a time. LOL!
Jon - That first one looks like the pink form of Fuji no Monet! Beautiful!!! I am a sucker for those Fuji blooming vines! Beautiful every single one of them! I am glad that you had such great success with them. Quite a change from just growing a couple Pearly Gates last year, huh?
And your garden area sure looks mighty nice now too! I can't wait to see how your garden areas around your home evolve after the home extension project is completed! Glad to hear the weather is finally cooling down for you and the Typhoons so far are not getting close enough to do any damage! I hope it continues that way this year!!

Jon, you sure did a great job on growing those. I like that pink form of Fuji no monet. The lines/spokes on it are aligned very nice, they have a tip to them right on the fold. :>)
Yes that's one of my favorites too! It produced a lot of blooms right through the summer and is still going strong. Thanks A.
Oh I missed this thread yesterday. Beautiful blooms Jon, you had a great
yr growing Morning Glories.
They are all beautiful. That number 7 is my favorite one.
Thanks guys! I've had a pretty good year with these vines, growing a total of 62 vines, 21 varieties, made a few mistakes and learned a lot!
No 7 is my favorite too! It's Kohkan.
Jon
Love 15 and 16, so pretty.
Me too! thanks,
Jon
Jon - I think your blooms are stunning for a first time MG grower! You could give us a run for our money despite the fact that we have been growing them for a number of years! I like that #17!!! Very nice pink colors!♥
LOL! Beginners luck!! And a LOT of encouragement from my friends!
Nah ... you have 2 green thumbs and 8 green fingers, Jon!
No toes?
Jon beautiful collection!
Numbers 4 to 8 - 13, each flower produces at least 4 seeds, it makes tons of seeds so tons of volunteers for next year .
No need to sow for years.
Lol Jon, maybe toes too
Thanks Dany! I must confess to being a little worried about seed dispersion from the I purpurea, not so much in my own garden as they are easy to pull, next doors garden is quite another matter!
I hope they like Mg's LOL!
patootie, the last time I checked everything was pink!
Jon
I bet you have green colored blood, Jon? LOL! Plants certainly do very well for you. :-)
I hope your neighbors don't come knocking on your door with a barrel full of I. purpurea seedlings!
Those darned birds, that is what it is...lol, it may very well be though, I got a nice milkweed that came up, it may have blown in on it's own, but I think my feathered friends brought that in, and some hederacea, and two years ago, they brought me a white flowered lacunosa..lol Now all the purpurea seedlings are my fault for letting them grow and reseed two years ago. They are still germinating by the hundreds here. I'll take photos this morning, and I'll upload them tonight.
A, my Milky Way has wrapped around everything. I'm going out to cut it today
to keep the sds from maturing, well the rest of them anyway. My Split
Personality didn't take over and neither did the little hige, it was very well behaved. Every seedling that comes up in the Milky Way spot will be pulled next yr or I will have a real battle on my hands.
Good idea I think I'll cut my purpurea's down today!
Jackie, If I could only show you the seedlings here, they are everywhere. I found two arvensis plants that I did not sow in the raised beds, and I also found a whole fence full of what I think may be arvensis but can't tell what color they are from the hiway, so I've got to walk over there in the morning to see the flowers open.
Jon, how far are you from the beach/ocean? There are some seeds that float up on the beaches and some are RARE and in the morning glory family. I've got a few seeds coming to me that I hope I can germinate when they do arrive.. my friend said they are a surprise, so I don't know the name YET.. until they get here. He did harvest some pes-carpe and a few other merremias, but won't tell me which, so I'm waiting for the mail like a hawk next week at the PO.
Oh how cool!!!! I hope they germinate for you!
