It's time for the fair!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Come one, come all...step right up! Be part of history in the making!

This is the first-ever Dave's Garden County Fair, which is now up and ready for your photo submissions: http://davesgarden.com/contest/2010-daves-garden-county-fair

Enter your recipes here:
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1130111/

The recipes will be transcribed to our own forums once the fair has ended and of course the photo contest results will be visible after the last bit of cotton candy has been eaten :-)

You'll have until the end of this month (September 30) to enter your pictures and recipes, then voting will begin on October 1. Nifty blue ribbons will grace the winners' member pages when the contest ends.

Just to clarify...

As with the photo contest, I'm assuming we should only submit photos we have taken ourselves?

Does a photo for "favorite vegetable garden," for example, need to be a shot of our own veggie garden, or could it be a photo we'd taken of some other vegetable garden we happened to like?

(I'm assuming we should submit photos only of our own animals, pies we have baked, quilts we have made, etc., but I wanted to be sure... my favorite quilt, for example, is the one the DG quilters made for Joyanna!)

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

The photos must be yours and the subjects should also be yours.

(No fair going to your local bakery and snapping some photos of their gorgeous pies or cakes :-)

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

That's pretty much what I figured from the discussion thread about the upcoming fair... It might avoid some confusion though if you could post that on the fair page, just in case somebody is hearing about the fair for the first time when they come across that page. What's obvious to some isn't always obvious to everybody! :-)

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

I'll see if we can get it added - hopefully most people understand that to be the case, though.

LOL Jim has been in proposal writing mode at work again lately, and that's probably why I've picked up the habit of reading actual language and not assuming intent. Just wanted to avoid having somebody say, "well, it didn't *say* the photo had to be my own barn, and this old barn in Vermont was just so charming!" :-)

Crossville, TN

I got my recipe on Facebook....but not in the right place...HELP!! Jo

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Where is it Jo? Is it on your own FB page?

Crossville, TN

I think so....since folks have been making comments about it...Jo

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Can I submit a recipe, without submitting a photo?

You sure can - the FB page should allow you to submit just a recipe :-)

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thank you!

I tried to submit a note and it went to my FB page. How do I get it to show up on DG's page?

Yep, I'm confused--where do we submit, on the Facebook page, or on DG?
(It doesn't take much to corn-fuse me, lol)

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 10a)

Hey all! We hear you... the Recipe set up was confusing - sorry about that.

Please enter your recipes here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1130111/

Thanks for the feedback!

I have a question, I have a couple of favorite flower pics that I take of my flowers on the plants but no flower arrangements. Do I post these in arrangements or is there another place and I'm blind. Also favorite plant??

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Crissy, you may want to save those for the photo contest, which will come along soon after the fair voting wraps up.

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

We'll have our annual Photography Contest in a couple of months. There will be categories for flower pictures and plants in that contest. Start filing your great plant and scenery images for that one!

We'll have our annual Dave's Garden Calendar with the winners and are working on a cool graphic for the winners profile pages too. So, if you don't find a category in this contest, just wait a bit, we'll probably have one coming up.

Here's the link to last year's Photography Contest so you can see the categories: http://davesgarden.com/contest/2009/

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

AAAHHHH!! Excellent, thanks y'all!

I can't find a link to the 2010 county fair results. Im certain my glasses and brain are still functioning ...LOL Is it Just me or is it really missing?

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I looked and I don't see it either so it's not just you. If you were just curious to see the pictures, go to the link for the 2011 one, and then in the address bar of your browser replace 2011 with 2010 and you'll find the 2010 pics but there doesn't seem to be a link to it on the contest page.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Here's a link to it: http://davesgarden.com/contest/daves-garden-county-fair-2011/

Thank you both! That worked ecrane. Glad it wasn't just me!

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

Is DG having another fair this year?

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

My guess is yes! It's a DG tradition!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

haighr's guess would be correct! And it will be starting up in just a few short weeks, so get your pictures ready and your taste buds set for some corn dogs and cotton candy!
