Morning Glory adventures in Kansas September 2010

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Time to watch the decline of the season, sad to say, but here it is just that way.. We Came From Here:

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1124874/#new

In 1993 I wrote this poem..
The day is gray and windy, and the Maple says to the Oak..when the Morning Glory dies, then so shall I
The leaves they fall, blown into the wind~ crying out the summers end.
Shards of sunlight break thru the clouds, giving hope of warmth to the shriveling shrouds.
The Morning Glory's Blue trumpet, still sings it's song~Goodbye my friend, but not for long.
Winter comes slowly, but disappears fast.. and then I shall stretch and bloom at last.

These are the days of summers end. Living in Kansas, growing Morning Glorys, chronicles of my adventures.

Debra I love your poem. Thank you for sending it every once in a while
so that we may enjoy it again.
My pandy also put out two leader stems when it germinated in 06.
Love these pretty pink blooms.

Debra - Wonderful story of your friend's visit and your vacation! Sounds like you had a wonderful time!

Lovely poem! And lovely blooms you've had this year!!! I couldn't pick a favorite if I was asked. They are all so beautiful! Are you going to grow some from seed this winter in your basement greenhouse? I hope so! I would love to see some more of your blooms!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Thanks! I am glad I have some seeds still left to "play" with downstairs. I have my seed starting station set up, and their vining area ready. I managed to also put up a shelf in the south facing pink bedroom window. Shelf number 2 will be put up next weekend. I put up a Christmas wish List on the bulletin board so my family would have some ideas for me.
Long Handled Lopers.
A battery operated drill kit.
A nice wrought Iron Trellis.
A folding 60 inch utility table.
HID light kit

It is going to be Easy Peasy to make MOM happy this year.
Karen's Kikyo Ice is so very pretty. Just moved a brand new young plant to a pot. We will be watching that one.
This is at Don's Place.

Debra glad you mentioned about the new thread, or I somehow would have missed it. YIKES!!

Debra - Beautiful Passifora bloom! I like your Christmas list!!! I have one similar! LOL!

Somewhere in one of the threads you asked what the Fuji No Monet NOT bloom looked like. Here is an odd photo of two of mine. Solid purple blooms. I think the humidity caused the weird colored blooms in the photo of mine. http://davesgarden.com/community/blogs/i/54168/

What a nice poem and great flowers you have had.. you take great photos too. Tks for sharing them with us.

The Fuji no Monet nots have been Solid Whites, Pink with spokes, and I believe even a solid Pink flower and some look like regular Mt. Fuji bluish/purple with no circle in the center, the halo and watercolor is what makes the no monet beautiful.. I hope that strain gets stablized soon, that would be a nice one to have in your collection.

Wow, thanks.. I did see a bloom on mine and it is purple. Sometimes the other neon color shows up in my I. Purps.. it is kinda cool looking I think.

Cool Debra. I had 5 blooms open last night on mine, but then it rained and now they are shot. Lots more coming. It has gotten a lot cooler here now, so it may slow it down.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

So far my fugi no monet not is a purple ( solid)

I have had some other blooms popping up here and there.. I really like the surprises..

Debra - The FNM will produce white, pink, solid purple, and of course the true FNM bloom. I've seen all four forms of it! I've grown out some of the solid colors to see what the F2 would produce and most produce solid blooms unfortunately.
