Like tulip Angelic

Soft, pink-on-pink double tulips so full of gorgeous petals they resemble peonies. Each stem carries multiple blooms that provide masses of long-lasting scented flowers.

I have just decided to do some lily rearrangements.

I am thinking of when my new lily bulbs arrive in Oct to dig up all the lilies in front bed and plant them in back beds. And only use those from Co-op order in the front bed. For my convenience I am posting the anticipated bloom times of the lily bulbs we can order.

I just saw a squirrel and I have no pellets for my pellet gun! grr. I don't like squirrels. They are starting to get ready for the winter and I don't want them stealing my bulbs!

Mary.. I don't see Miss Lily on your list for july/august.

Morrisville, PA(Zone 6b)

What do you think this winter will be like?

Nineveh, NY(Zone 5a)

I'm hoping it will be mild. But not sure. Alot of my fall blooming perennials are already blooming!

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

If you're planning your garden according to bloom times, they generally go like this: Asiatic, LA, Trumpet (longiflorum), OTs then Orientals. Keep in mind that within any of these hybrid groups there are early and late bloomers.

mm ~ for example, I see that you have Red Velvet listed as a late season. It will bloom earlier with the other Asistics. Casa Blanca and Stargazer will bloom after most OTs and about the same time as each other. L. henryi and rubrum will probably be among the last lilies to bloom.

Here in my 5b garden, nearly all of the lilies are blooming about the 3rd week in June with the exception of the OTs and orientals, then henryi finishing up the show in late July / early August.

Here you can see mostly asiatics, trumpets that are ready to pop and a very early oriental at the bottom.

This http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1012497/ is one of my very favorite threads Moby started. If you want to see some serious lilies and views, check it out. I lurk, and I find myself coming back to it often.
This post from lincolnitess has my heart all a-twitter for Scheherazade (100% on my wish list) http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=6824568
The whole thread is truly amazing, filled with SO many beautiful yards, and I get so many ideas from it... just if I could get a plan going in the dirt instead of in my head....

Nineveh, NY(Zone 5a)

wow! what gorgeous pictures! Now I want ALL the lilies!!! =D

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Moby ~ lovely photo of your garden.
Wish we had the space and more full sun.
We have way to many Pines on the property.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Thanks Shelly for those links!! I got lost in the pics, and all the hard work of everyone!

OMG Moby... what a beautiful garden you have and loved the post where you finally gave in to the rest period in the hammock, and r-i-p!!! LOL... That would happen to be most definitely! I have a shade garden and several have commented "how peaceful", but I have yet to really take the time to sit there. I need to do that!! I am always working when i am out, and still seem to not be getting anywhere. well only 3 years, I've been working hard, and finally I am seeing tiny results!

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

LOL Thanks for all the nice comments but my only point was to illustrate the progression of lily bloom. Gardening takes patience and lots of time ~ as in years. (unless you have an unlimited budget, which I don't!) This year I've found that a few plants that I've long-relied upon as 'filler', have become a bit too much and need to come out. Every year is different with changes here and there.

The dark lilies you asked about, momof 2, are Red Alert. Scheherazade is a gorgeous thing and should be in every garden. :) I'm always happy to see people discover the joy of growing lilies. Welcome!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Your gardens are lovely Moby.
Now if I could just have your skills to keep track of them all.....tags not get moved, ect...I'd know what I have. I have a good idea, but won't trade because of no positive ID. I'm also very leery of virused bulbs, can't tell you how many I pulled last year and this. At the sake of repeating.....DON'T PLANT TULIPS IN WITH YOUR LILY BULBS!!
I have several that came out streaked last year/this year and the only thing added in that bed were tulips.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

pixie.. that's your fairies pulling tricks on you..lol... mine are Armadillos.. squirrels... hurricanes..LOL... I am so glad you're repeating that about the tulips!! They don't grow here, so I have no worry, but it would be a horribly sick feeling... especially if you had crawled... like i do at times... to get it all in the ground, and then the lilies bloom is all distorted.... then back to crawling to get them all back out!!
Question... since the lilies were streaked.... that means the lily is diseased and nothing can help it?? Except the fire I guess?
