Great job on the last thread everyone! If you would like a look back here is the link: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1122530/
I'll start this new thread off with a few pics from down the shore. Here is a Ruddy Turnstone seen in Stone Harbor at the Wetlands Institute.
DAILY PICS VOL. 341
Thanks for the new start Pelle. Looks like your juvie osprey have lost most of their nesting materials. That happens here when a strong wind blows through, I imagine it's the same there. That Ruddy Turnstone is an interesting bird and the Gull is nice and clear. Great job on all of them.
Here's an Oak Titmouse.
Nice pics, Pelle and duc. I stepped out into the backyard this morning not realizing that a Pileated Woodpecker was on the power pole in the corner of the yard. Not until he flew right over my head. Just as he flew over I heard another one call out, very close. The second one was in my tree that holds the suet feeder! First time one has come into the tree. This one flew away also, but nice to know they will come down, and maybe they will come back!
Oh pelle...GREAT start!!
So cute duc!
Congrats GP...hope they come back for you. Ours didn't visit this year like the did the last 2 years. I heard one in the neighbors tree yesterday morning while I was watering the tomato plants.
Very nice start to the new thread Pelle! The Ruddy Turnstone looks great as do the American Herring Gull and Osprey's! Glad you went down the shore!
Duc, super shot of your Oak Titmouse! Very crisp and clear.
Nanny, that little wp is so cute. I'm so glad to hear you're seeing it each day.
Elphaba, great job with your little Starling pictures. Great pictures of the House Finches too. It's interesting to see your birds like the crepe myrtles, I've never noticed any of my birds in either of mine.
Here's one of several Brewer's Blackbirds at my feeder.
awww...poor Stubby!
Nice start Pelle...great shots and I adore that Ruddy Turnstone, would love to see one someday. Thanks for the new thread too!
Nice shots Nanny, Duc and Elphaba!! GP...hope your Pileated returns for more suet!
I am so happy that the Chickadees have returned to the backyard...it has been months since I've seen them.
pelletory - nice shot of the Herring Gull and thanks for starting the new thread.
Hey, ducbucln - sweet Oak Titmouse.
nanny_56 I like the pic of the male Hairy Woodpecker. I have a female that I see often.
Elphaba - I'm not a Starling fan either, but they are pretty birds of starlings.
dellrose - I've never seen a Blue Grosbeaks - pretty. AND I'm still seeing GOFIN now and then.
Hack
Wonderful shots guys!
I love that Goldfinch Rose!
I'd love to add my name to that list for a Blue Grosbeak! What a beauty. Great photos Rose. That goldfinch is sure bright and cheerful and all your other birds are just so pretty.
Nanny, your little hairy looks quite happy with its home. Hope you get lots of migrating birds.
It's been lonely here without all the orioles, but the sugar water is lasting longer. Yesterday there were just 4 of them here and they still had to fight and argue.
Downy woodpecker keeps drumming on the house. Neighbors have long reflecting strips attached to their house to stop them as they had to replace some boards along the eaves. I just yell 'shoo' but I am home more than they are.
We had to take our feeders inside because of grackles. If they are not around next week, we will put the feeders out again.
Great start Pelle... Love the Ruddy Turnstone, and I miss our Ospreys already!
Duc... You always have something nice to share! I especially like your Brewer's B-bird and Oriole!
Nanny... Lovely Hairy WP!
Elphaba... That Housefinch is so cute! She is determined to get it!
Dellrose... I love that Blue Grosbeak, but I love your Goldfinch and hawk too!
Gardenpom... Great catch with the Pileated WP! They are so cool! I haven't seen one since the spring!
HMM... Your pretty little hummer appears to me to be a female Ruby-throat! Nice!
We took our second week of vacation this past week, and we had a great time. Visited two beaches and three NWRs. Here are some of the photos I have done.
This first one is possibly my favorite from the whole trip! It rained non-stop on Wed. but it didn't stop me from getting out and taking pics! I love the softness of the marsh grass against the white of the egret.
Great Egret at Chincoteague NWR
