I've been constantly taking pictures of these little hummers and loving every minute of it. This one loves the lantana blooms on our back deck.
WESTERN STATES HUMMINGBIRDS VOL. 12
Beautiful shots of your hummers duc! Love your flowers too.
So lovely Duc!!! Love seeing them in the flowers.
Just gorgeous Duc...and I agree the flowers are too!!
Great shots duc!
While I was testing my camera and using the "Spot" metering which Linth suggested, I was able to see something on my hummers that I'd never noticed before.
Take a look around the eyelid and below it-doesn't it look like this hummer has tiny stitches around the eye?
Thanks Linth, I always love learning something new!
Nice shots duc!
Pretty, duc. Now I know where my rufous hummers have gone.
Thank you Pelle and Mountain Girl.
great photos!
Will there be a map of North America as the Hummers fly back down south? We still have the Annas here. They are now getting ready for the Fall/Winter season here. I had some all Winter last year and Friends here in Ladysmith have been feeding them all Winter for years.
Hi vanislandgirl, So far I haven't found one but I'm still looking. :-)
From this site. http://natureshelicopter.com/migration.html
Anna's Hummingbird
Does not migrate, but moves to areas with more food
Breeding Period: December to June
Non-Breeding Range: Expands range to the north and south
I haven't been able to find a map for the Fall.
Vanis,
I have been reporting by way of Journey South on how many Anna's and other hummers that are currently here at my home every week. Here's the link-you should enjoy wandering around here-

Here's part of the email I get from them every week-
Week #6: Still Seeing Hummingbirds? Let Us Know!
*****************************************************
Hummingbird Migration Update: September 24, 2010
http://www.learner.org/jnorth/humm/fall2010/update092410.html
It was peak migration week in Texas, where hummers stacked up and waited for the weather to change. Hummingbird numbers dwindled in the north, but almost 1,000 people reported their presence. Are you still seeing hummingbirds?
Please report ONLY if hummingbirds are present.
http://www.learner.org/cgi-bin/jnorth/jn-sightings
DO NOT report if your hummingbirds are gone!
Unless you can tell us the date you saw your last hummingbird, please don't report. Otherwise our map will show hummingbirds are still present at your location.

van, I also report on Journey South. It is a great site and you don't need to be intimidated by the fact that they ask who your teacher is. Just ignore that part. I also report on Journey North in the spring.
Wonderful shots duc! Love those Anna's!
Luvly duc
