The juvi male Orchard Oriole came by and posed for me, but my camera just would not focus on him. It was infuriating. Got 3 OK shots. I think this is the one that I like the best.
DAILY PICS VOL. 339
I have this really ugly little feeder that I just fill the bottom of with safflower seed. If I fill it any fuller, the White Wing Doves just spill it all over. They can't actually feed from the feeder, but they can hold on, flap their wings and spill most of the seed on the ground whatever is left, the house finches and cardinals get.
I moved that ugly little feeder b/c I had the sprinkler on. These two house finches just sat on the branch where the feeder was supposed to be and waited for me to put it back.
That was cool enough....I have never seen an RBG after there arrive in the spring even tho they spend the summer here.
That was on Tuesday
BUT then I saw this on Friday....a Juvie Rose-breasted Grosbeak maybe????
Guess I was wrong...juvie Cowbird...bummer!

Burn, great job with your Night Hawks.
Met, that Vireo is beautiful.
Elphaba, love your Carolina Wren and the Orchard Oriole. Do your orioles drink the sugar water from the hummingbird feeders? The finches were smart little things. They know where the feeder belongs.
Lily, what a trio you had on your feeder. They sure are cute.
Nanny, glad you were able to at least get one shot at the grosbeak and robin! Congratulations on seeing your juvie!!
This Western Bluebird was at our local state park this morning with a mate.
I am just beginning to notice a little more bird activity around me. Even the Grackles were gone for a while and are showing up again. Twice I have caught a glimpse of a small brown bird at the feeder, but have not been able to identify it yet. The female Red-bellied Woodpecker has been visiting many times a day.
oops! Out of suet cakes & bird store not open on Mondays.
ducbucln - that was a nice capture of the Black-crowned Night Heron in flight. AND I'd sure like to see one of those Green Herons. AND WOW, that pic of the park Green Heron is tops.
Elphaba - your Orioles are sure pretty. AND the pic of the 2 HOFINs awaiting the return of the ugly feeder is real nice, too.
Resin - "Grey Heron . . . came out better than I expected." - I'll say!. Nice pic.
burn_2007 - I liked the 1st pic of the Night Hawk best.
Methodical - I went back and forth and think I like the 2nd shot of the Vireo the best. Nice.
Lily_love - I've been seeing a few GOFINs fairly regular here.
nanny_56 - Nice pic of the juvie Cowbird (I agree with Resin), I had a whole lot of them here earlier this year. AND you Red-belly is nice, too. But, I've been seeing more Downy's around here.
gardenpom - your female Red-belly is pretty. I spotted a juvie (no red on the head, at all) here today, but didn't have my camera with me.
Hack
irisMA - Saturday, I went to a store called "Tractor Supply" and stocked up on suet - .99 cent each.

Nice shots everyone!! Hack, try putting some beer around the feeder...that just may get the Whirlybird to take interest. ;)
LOL Burd.
Nice shots, Hack. I love the Catbird.
Burd, I was thinking along the line....what would attract those Whirlybirds, and you've nailed it. lol. Hi there Margaret, awww. Hack I'd say, Nan, you and I we all get alot more downy wps than others. Though, you & Nan seem to have got more catbirds and GOFINs year round than I do.
Redheaded Wp. visits before sunrise.
Gp, glad to see you here. That's a cute Red-bellied! Love the expression on the jay.
Lily, I get a kick out of your heron and egret. Wonder if you've have more if you had more posts for them to sit on?
Nanny, cute wps!
Iris, you'll have to make some suet for the birds!!
Hack, those Chickadees are so cute. lol on the "whirley" bird. I liked the feeder shot of the cardinal and sparrow. They look happy.
I finally found my first juvie Mockingbird.
WOW, duc, your 7D is cooking! That jumping juvie Oriole is great. I have quite a few dragonflies, too, and now that you mention it, I've never seen one taken, either.
