Hello everyone!
Sometimes life takes you on a really strange and wacky ride. With that being said, and with some of the kind and not so kind things that have happened in my life lately, I will not be renewing my DG subscription. Some of you I have contacted and spoken with via email on a few occasions, there is someone that I used as "my rock," during a very trying time over a year ago. I've met some of you in person at two different RU's, one at Logee's the other at Wellsweep.
Your kind words, words of encouragement, well balanced sense of humor, quick wit, awesome personalities, great advice, and last but not least of all, friendship, will always be cherished.
I don't want to be anymore dramatic than this, so, with that being said,
Thank you all, so very very VERY much :-)
If any of you use Facebook, I am a Facebook (FB) user. You can look me up by either my name, or my email address.
Thom Dougherty tjd574@yahoo.com
I will miss the site, and everyones chatter. I have been more a lurker lately than a regular/irregular poster, but lurking I have. I hope all of you do well, wish all of you success both in your lives, and in your garden(s).
Sincerely,
Thom
Farewell my NE Forum Friends :-)
Oh no - so sorry to hear this, Thom! I wish you only the best in all your endeavors. I'll hook up with you on Facebook. Take care and be well, my friend.
Regards,
Victor
Oh Thom, wishing you the very best, you'll be missed!!!!
We will miss you! That would be me, Sum and Substance, Blue Cadet and Elvis Lives!
We wish you the best.
Martha
Bye Thom...Hope you have more fun like Logees!
Sorry to here that Thom, your sense of humor and excitment you bring to our post will be missed. I was looking forward to seeing more of your DL purchses and hearing more of your Ghost Hunting Tales too!
Yes - me too with the ghost hunting! Are you relocating??
I'll miss you Thom! If not for you, I wouldn't have gone onto the lily auction & gotten Mary's Baby, Carnival Mask, & Lifting the Fog......good luck, good life!
Sorry you are leaving, perhaps someday you will return. Hope all will be well with you and your plants. Never lose that enthusiasm you have for all things because things and people come and go, but if you stay true to yourself all will even out in the end. Best wishes and good luck to you.
Thank you all for the well wishes. I need to buckle down here. Long and short of it, is Paul is moving out the end of August, and it's going to be tough living here alone. Getting a room mate is an option, but sifting through someone that I can co-habitate with will be tricky. I'm really a home body, I don't drink, I don't smoke, I go out occasionally, I really don't have much in the way of company over here...so...lol...narrows down what I will tolerate in a roomie.
Paul and I splitting was not, and has not been the easiest thing, especially since I've found out so much about things that happened over the past 4 years. It was a case of, "you thought you knew someone, then...."
So, with him leaving, money is going to be really really tight. I may, depending on what happens over the next 3 months or so, have to sell the house. If that happens, I have no idea what I'll be in for.
Thank you all very much for the words of encouragement and the well wishes, they mean more than you'll ever know.
So sorry you're going through all that, Thom. Things often have a way of working out for the better. I hope you can keep the house as you put so much into it. Good luck!
Victor has said exactly what i wanted to, Thom....after losing my DH in April, I know just what you're feeling right now....
Sorry to hear that someone as nice and fun as you is going through such a tough time, Thom. Hang in there and take it one day at a time until you get through this difficult time. You will be missed here, but I'm hoping your absence won't be a long one. Best of luck.
Louise
Eleanor - what a lovely, tranquil spot! Really beautiful!
Thanks, Louise.
wish you all the best Thom.... hugs!!!
Good luck to you Thom (((♥♥♥)))
Oh Thom! I will miss you but will see you on facebook - won't be the same here without you. {{{hugs}}}
Well...it appears that I won't be going anywhere.
Someone was very kind and renewed my DG membership. For this I can never thank them enough, there simply are no words to even express my gratitude.
Beyond the well wishers, and the dmails, someone was extremely generous to boot.
This just goes to show what type of people make up the NE Forum here on DG, and further what kind of people are actually part of the DG community at large.
So, I will not name names, since I believe this member would like to remain anonymous, but I will publicly thank you...again....from the bottom of my heart.
I'm going through enough stuff in my personal life, and a very kind gesture like this is beyond what I could ever even contemplate...I'm still trying to "wrap" my head around this. This doesn't reflect on the act of kindness, nor the member, just what I've been going through lately here at home.
So, thank you one and all...Thank you, thank you, and thank you.
I have a whole bunch of pics that I need to get off of my camera and get on here, I've been posting them on Facebook all season long until...it's just one of those things that comes with having an overly curious cat, Ivan, chewed through the USB cord for my printer/copier (which I can insert the memory card from my Nikon and DL them to my computer that way) and he chewed through the USB cord for the Nikon.
Bitter Apple...he licks off. He actually ENJOYS it. I purchased another spray/deterant, and he loves that even more...I tried the 2nd one...BLACHHHHH...oh gosh was it horrid, but Ivan seems to find it suits his little pallet. LOL.
So once I get another USB cord, of figure it out, I have a few hundred, maybe more pics I need to sort through and upload.
I was out at the Chicago Botanical Gardens in June, and that was amazing, I have about 300+ photos from that alone!
aaaaaaaawwwwwwww that's so nice!!!
Welcome back, Thom!
So glad you are staying with us!!!!!! Maybe a little steel armor for your USB cable?
Glad that you are staying here. One needs friends. Jumper 2 has a cord chewing cat also.
Ivan is just...holy crapper. I swear to the animal gods, he's part puppy.
And his size.
I looked back at the pics when I first brought him home, he was almost 1/2 the size of a pair of my tennis shoes...NOW...he weighs almost 15lbs!
He's a moose, and a feline bully.
His best friend in the whole world, my Komondor, Theta. He sleeps in her crate with her, and if I can't find him, he's sleeping on top of her crate with his paws through, dangling, trying to play with her hair...lol.
Welcome back!!
YAY!! I'm so glad your staying Thom!!! Hug Theta for me, miss seeing pictures of her...how's she doing??
Well welcome back!!! I'd love to see pics of the dog and the cat.
Can't wait to see the pics of the Chicago Botanical Gardens
Glad you never left! Eleanor
WOOHOO!!! Just found this thread and glad to say I didn't miss you after all. Yep, friends are here all over the place.
Very odd coincidence/juxtaposition. The day after Thom posted this thread, which was the first I saw him post for quite some time, I heard from a former colleague that another colleague and good friend, who shared Thom's exact name - Thomas Dougherty, was in serious medical condition. Unfortunately, he passed today, though it was for the best since he had significant brain damage from cardiac arrest.
He was a great guy. A brilliant man who, unlike so many PhD's, was really down to earth and not snobbish or arrogant at all. He grew up in Philly and would often poke fun at my NY accent.
Didn't mean to put a negative spin on this thread. Just thought it was a strange coincidence.
so sorry to hear it Victor
So sorry, Victor.
That's weird, sorry Victor.
Thanks. Didn't mean to hijack.
Very sad, Victor. So sorry! Strange coincidence for sure!
Try to be happy about OUR Thom.
