What little things make you happy?
Picking clover flowers makes my daughter happy.
The little things in life that make you happy
Hubby bought a paint sprayer and painted the shed in no time flat...absolutely made his day.
I looove this thread...and so need it right now. Great photo of your daughter Jen! Messaging w/ my DIL makes me happy. Anything to do with my pets-past, present, and future, makes me happy. Getting dirty and sweaty digging in dirt--playing w/plants....blueberries, chocolate, carbohydrates, coffee, the smell of manure, newly mown grass, flowers of all sorts---I could go on and on! Oh....and there's a couple of things I can't mention here ;-)

Scented candles, a warm summer day/crisp fall day, maple syrup, a country road, making/fixing almost anything, old houses and old furniture, picket fences, greenhouses, sitting in front of a burning fireplace w/a friend---ok...I'll stop!

the smell of manure
LOVE IT! Only a gardener would say that!!!
^_^
All good stuff everyone. ^_^
Digging a hole and finding that no rocks have to be removed.
Growing the food, then using the recipes my Mom & Grandma did....I feel such a connection.
Lots of different things but tonight it was seeing my little niece. She's 33 and I haven't seen or been able to hug her since she was 14. It was a looooong hug and I cried very happy tears. ^_^
That's a really good one! ^_^
awwwww
Aww Jen that's so sweet! It reminds me of my daughter. She likes to go around and pick one of every flower. Then she lines them up in the holes on our patio table and pretends they are talking and having parades or whatever else her little imagination comes up with at the moment! lol So cute! : )
awwww, so cute.
I wish you could just freeze those moments
I know! She also loves clovers. It's so funny how she seems to like the weeds more than the other flowers. She loves the dandelions too. Maybe it's because she knows mommy never tells her she's already picked too many of those ones : )
Yep that's gotta be it, they can pick as many as they want of the weeds.
Nice thread, Jen....and adorable kids photos here! Let's see....starting a new book that is very fat, written by a favorite author; sipping my first cup of coffee in the morning with two warm, snuggly puppies on my lap; seeing a first bloom on a plant in my garden; realizing that a plant I thought had died is still kicking; watching my grandkids' expressions as they figure out something difficult; seeing wildlife in our meadow "theater"; feeling the gentle, solitary lick on my calf that Bailey gives me as she passes my way; raindrops on petals; baby birds and animals; having a solid marriage; miracles; knowing that random acts of kindness happen.
Well written, Louise....I agree with all, except it's Robs doing the licking. Gardensox....what a cutie...love that coppery hair!
Cool, Marilyn! How is Robs doing now?
Much better, thank you.....if he begins limping again, he will be reevaluated. I dropped both of them at the kennel this evening, & I'm missing them already.
That's tough, isn't it?! They'll be fine....and they want you to have a nice week! Do they keep them together? That should help! Just enjoy.....!
Gosh I could list something new everyday! Of course my girlies Sophie and Luci come to mind first! The joy of grandparenting is truly an experience worth waiting for. Although I really didn't wait to long! LOL
A cool breeze on a quiet afternoon, the birds singing, a long awaited flower bloom that is just what you hoped for, my dogs unconditional love no matter what mood I'm in...my husband's for that matter too! When the neighbors finally take in their yapping Pomeranian that I want to feed to Atticus so the afternoon is once again quiet!
I thought of one immediately, but it's really not THAT little. ^_^
A day where I don't have to do anything. When the kids are not fighting. Favorite foods. Sleeping late!
I'll think of more. Nice thread.

Going camping ! Oh, and the girls, and DH, and my favourite little man, my new grandson.
I have never experienced it . . . but a winning ticket might make me happy ^_^
LOL, Michaela!
Speaking of camping hubby and kids are setting up the campsite for some backyard camping tonight.
Smores!!!!!!!!
Yum!!
Awesome! That's so much fun!
Cute toms!
Good chocolate
like your "green" decorations, Sherrie!
Forever friends, homemade ice cream.
Difference??
#1) the cry of seagulls.
#2) the soothing, rhythmic sounds of the surf crashing on the beach.
#3) finding a $5 bill in a supermarket parking lot.
Cuddling up with DH and a book at night and drifting off to sleep .... getting a happy text from DD#2 .... getting to pick out my OWN salad bar stuff ... I don't sound much like Julie Andrews. OH!! Holding DGS, who was 5 weeks old, for the first time (on a trip to OR) and he didn't even cry! I sang to him.
I've never had a smore, but in the middle of winter when you can't get warm, I make a cup of hot choc (from milk....NOT water) with some marshmallow on top and then dip a graham cracker in it. Does that count?
WC, you're #1 and #2 I find very soothing and happy also. #3 goes to a charity immediately, too involved, too sad to explain beyond, hey that's a nice thing to do.
Dear virtual gardening friends, I am informed by DG admin that "farewell posts" are against DG policy, so while I still have the capability to post online, I am going to amend my original post on this thread, which I have enjoyed reading immensely . My priorities have changed, and while I would still enjoy all those other things that improve life experiences, here is my current list: health, shelter, food, transportation, safety, security, a non-judgmental ear to bend--especially on those really bad days, of which yesterday was one.
Happy Gardening all!
Take care Phoebe, wishing you all the best. ☺
