My special treasured seedlings

Cave Creek, AZ

I really miss seeing Judy here. I hope that she comes back. I don't know if I have ever sen a single yellow or not. I think when it get hot here it s hard to tell yellow from white. When the buds are closed I have seen some plants that look yellow but then open to white. It gets do hot here and it is very dry. I have to water my pots daily!

It's really only the centre of the flower that's yellow; the petals are more or less white/cream. The photo shows the semi-double white Madonna oleander (from a nursery) at the top and the single yellow cutting (from Judy) at the bottom, taken last year.
We miss Judy over at the Australian Gardening forum too. I have some more seedlings (sown from seed that she gave me) which haven't yet flowered; hopefully they will do so this spring/summer--a lovely reminder of Judy herself :-)
PS I know what you mean about watering--in warm weather pots need watering even after rain!

I have a few (I think) Double yellow seeds and my double peach/pink was blooming and single red when these seeds were pollinated, I am not patient enough to grow seeds but for postage I would be glad to share. I think I have 5 pks of 5 seeds each. How long from seed to bloom?

My seedlings were sown just over 2 years ago and have yet to flower, but I seem to remember Judy saying that you can get them to flower within 12 months of sowing. For that they will need full sun (which they didn't get here) and a warmer climate. Plus I tortured mine in too-small pots until finally planting them out last year. But read thru Judy's postings on the subject for a definitive answer.
PS The photos I've posted of my flowering oleanders are from *cuttings* given to me by Judy, hence the flowers. Hopefully the seedlings will flower this (southern hemisphere) summer.
