Here's a video with Al. He is into 'urban exploration', where photographers go into abandoned, broken down places. Some guy did one in WI and interviewed Al and another guy. This is from about a year ago. I'm assuming he won't mind, but since he's never here, how will he know?!! Hee hee. Enjoy.

small world, I know the kid they interviewed in this article.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - read about that yesterday, Jen.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Also heard from Dave - he says hello to all. He chose not to renew his subscription and wanted to say goodbye, but did not get the chance before he was cut off.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Also heard from Elvis...

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I had to send a message to my friend to find out if that was her son....and it was!!!! isn't that bizarre???

I'm surprised in that urban explorers video that places like that are left standing, I guess everywhere is different, but in our township the owner would be fined if property is not maintained

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Was wondering what happened to Dave. Did you let him know about the RU at Bill's?

and how is Elvis doing?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Elvis is fine. Not happy with the impersonators. Especially the hip action.I'll let Dave know about the RU.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

LOL

When we went to Vegas about 10yrs ago hubby and I had a bet about how many Elvises we'd see. I said we'd see a lot hubby said 1, We saw none.

I would have been sick....not so much for the cost but because it was a family heirloom. Someone is going to find it one day in the fish they are having for dinner

Dont know what they are speaking but had to laugh.

Just catching up.....some weird things in this world....talking about the pea.....how could a cooked anything sprout?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

We now have the emerald ash borer in this part of the state. Bad news.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

He'll have to bring his own water...

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Tree guy came. Was better than I expected. Will remove the silver maple and do some major trimming for $600.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

That's a great price. Is he insured?

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

maybe he expects a tip

South Hamilton, MA

Business is slow. People just have to let their trees sit. On Aug. 23 they will start to work on resealing our basement--install a pump as well. We don't need over a foot of water there again.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm sure that's the reason, though he has always been reasonable in the past. I'll send him to Bill for the tip.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, he is licensed, insured, yada.

Thomaston, CT

Great price!

Hes going to take the tree down - Does that mean remove the stump also? If not your looking at another chunk of change. Jim will remove stumps and that is when you charge just to move in!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I don't need the stump ground. Just cut real low. It's in a bed, so will not be planted with grass. It will rot fast enough.

Thomaston, CT

We did that to a blue spruce.....several years later, when the tree guys came back to take down something else, we had it ground, & the chips piled on top to promote rotting.....when I tried to plant my new JM there this year....roots!

Stumps and roots do not rot or go away fast. Some will not rot in 20 years. Its against the law to even bury a stump up here. You build a house on a stump dump and your foundation will eventyally give in - in time.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I had the stumps of 2 60' oaks ground down to 28" below soil level, that did the trick, now I have a new flower garden & a tulip bed on them. I do get a lot of weird mushrooms on one of them in the spring and the ground is mushy there. The other one which has the flower garden is solid, just a lot of wood chips underground which are decomposing.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Put Brush B Gone on the stump and it will not take long. Done is a few times already.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I drill holes in the stump and put in salt peter and water well. Then when that doesn't work, I make a huge pile of dirt over it and make it into a garden! That works and you get interesting mushrooms along the way!
