I dont get the road. Lost?

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Robert Frost (1874–1963). Mountain Interval. 1920.

1. The Road Not Taken

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth; 5

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same, 10

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back. 15

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Let's just say it worked better for Robert Frost--LOL

I know the roses what are the other ones in gold

Buttercups?

not butter cups - lilley of the valley? moon flowers?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Not LOV or moonflowers. My best guess would be hypericum flower, aka
St. John's Wort.
It's a tea cup with rose and a questionable flower.....so my thinking is this:

Rose's produce ROSEHIPS which make a good tea.
St. John's Wort is already a famous medicinal herb , drank also in tea.
Rosehip & St, John's Wort Tea which i've had many times to calm my nerves. ^_^

They are hanging upside down - arnt they? LOL it dont matter they are going on ebay.

Heres for you Mothers

A MOTHER'S PROMISE TO HER CHILDREN: I will stalk you, freak out on you, lecture you, drive you crazy, be your worst nightmare, embarrass you in front of your friends and hunt you down like a bloodhound until the day you understand why I do it.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

LOL Sherry, love that Mother's Promise!!!

Pixie, good detective work! I couldn't figure it out.

I stared at the cup & saucer photo for quite a while ( when I should've been cleaning!), and the extra-long stamens were the clue...hypericum flower.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thanks B.A., think Granma would be proud I remembered!! LOL

Thomaston, CT

Good job, Pixie! That Frost poem was one of my late husband's favorites.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Mine too...In reality, it does ring true, as does much of Frost.

Thomaston, CT

His poems always made me think. When I first started teaching, I had a record of him reading his poems, & I played them for my 4th graders.

What the heck are we doing with Ads in the right column? I pay for this service, No Ads ! ! ! !
How's everyone doing? Well I hope.
I'll be letting my DG subscription expire in a few months, I just don't come here any more.
My Daily Pics web site has gone Ad Free ~ better than DG for crying out loud.
My on-line gift store is what eats up my time even though I have a lot of time lately. The economy and my health have forced me into early retirement.
My dog, Sidekick Sarah is older than me in dog years and she's not feeling any better than me, lol.

Sarahskeeper-

I noticed you haven't been on the site much lately, because I spend a lot of time in Brockton and you're the only one (I think) on DG from there.

I hope you and Sarah have a healthy and happy remaining summer, and you can send a D-mail to me with info on your on-line gift store....best wishes.

We'll miss you Andy!!!

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Flowerjen, sorry to read about your ill health. Good luck with the tests. Not knowing the problem is as bad as the problem.
I'm still on the mend from surgery 2 months ago, Sarah is getting better with new meds.

BA_6a, my profile is complete with the store address as my 2nd favorite web site. There's an old pic of Sarah & me there too. She hates the camera.
Andy P

Another stupid plant question:
Your flower bed is too crowded and starting to choke. Some are puny. If you dig them out now and transplant them to a roomier locations will the strength and quality come back?

East Bridgewater, MA

"She hates the camera." lol !!!

My late, beloved German Shepard would always tilt his head quizzically whenever I tried to photograph him...I guess he couldn't figure out why I was holding a small black box in front of my face. So, all the photos of him show him with his head leaning to one side!

Wait till fall Sherrie, too hot right now...not sooo bad if it's a shade garden though.

That's funny, Andy and BA

Hallowell, ME

I agree with Jen, Slady. That's what I'm waiting for. They should rebound if they're healthy to begin with.

Thomaston, CT

Nice to hear both you & Sarah are doing better, Andy.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Hi, Schick. Are you talking about annuals or perennials in that over crowded bed? Don't be shy about yanking spent or nearly spent plants. I get rid of Daises in June, Malvas in July to make room for the late season stuff. They are volunteers anyway.
Mid season transplants need lots of TLC.
Hi, Robin. Sarah's is almost back to normal and I got the thumbs up from my Doc today.
Andy P

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Hi Andy! Glad you and Sarah got a good report from the Doctor, but we will miss you!!

Thomaston, CT

That's for sure!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I will miss you Sarahskeeper. Hope you and Sidekick Sarah continue to have joyous times on your other sites. ps Don't forget to dance tomorrow on your other sites to celebrate National Dance Day ^_^

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

is that a canuck holiday?

South Hamilton, MA

It's a Calgary holiday.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Happy National Dance Day America ^_^ It's official today. You guys are soooo good http://www.rickey.org/?p=47019

South Hamilton, MA

Believe me, I'm too stiff to dance after a week of digging irises.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Sarah dances, on command. She speaks too. If I give her the hand signal to dance and verbal to speak we might get her song & dance routine.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hey Andy. Hate to see you leave but best of luck!

Jen, did you get the results??

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Could have been a cat-astrophe!

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20100729/D9H8MCG82.html

Thomaston, CT

Expensive cat! My Suey is a bad rider.....she needs a crate, but chewed through the soldering on the last one.....put up a metal gate in the back compartment, she chewed the rubber tips of the legs, & got the gate to crash down....now I know why she was found wandering the streets......

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Victor,
Welcome back!!
I had posted this on the other thread
I got the results back today and everything was negative. Liver sediment won't show on an ultrasound soooooo I'll be doing liver flushes for the next couple of weeks.

Blood work shows a little elevated cholesterol levels but nothing to worry about.

Did my 1st liver flush Friday into Saturday wasn't too bad except waking up with nausea at 1:30am, that was NOT fun, fell asleep again and woke at 6am to do the last drink and by 2pm Saturday was feeling good able to eat a normal dinner

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Jen and glad to hear the good news! Is liver flushing very involved?
