CLOSED: What kind of bug or beetle is this

Owosso, MI(Zone 5b)

I found this bug/beetle on the top of the blossom of my Pink Double Delight Coneflower. He had himself securely attached on to the top of it too I had to really pull him off of it.
If you can see in the picture he is rather iridescent copper in color.
What is it and hopefully he's not something detrimental to my plant. I found something rolled up into the leaves of a plant rather close to that one my Jacobs Ladder/Touch of Class plant a couple of weeks ago.
It was rolled up into a bunch of leaves I never did dissect what was in there just put it in my fire pit and had a fire later that day.
Thanks
Jan

Another picture I wish they would have been better but I had him in a small butter container.

This appears to be a Japanese beetle, Popillia japonica (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) - see http://tinyurl.com/46q96t

Thanks now that I know what I'm up against I need to find out the best way to eradicate them. Since they say traps aren't the best way to get rid of them. I'm thinking I'm going to have to attack them with a bacteria that kills them or that article talks about something that you spray on the plant that irritates their mouth.
Now I know what may have skeletonized a plant that I had years ago in that same area. Now that I think about it I think I used Rotenone when I saw those flowers being eaten. I wonder if that would work on the Japanese beetle.
I might try it it isn't supposed to be toxic to humans. It kills the insect by deoxygenizing them.
Thanks again.
