Morning Glories 2010 #12

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Filling up a thread every day or two is like the old days. Sometimes we had over 100
posts before the end of the day.

We came from here

Marie, When I get thru growing the majority of these by fall, will try to send you a few. If I don't get many sds this go around, will send you a few from last yr.
They're viable for yrs.
Even with all the background clutter, this one is still a beauty.
That's a lilac dazzler Emma, very pretty

Marie - Many of the cultivars I sent in the seed swap (I think I sent 15 - 20? different cultivars) were Japanese. Have you sowed and grown any of those? And I know Debra and others sent some nice seeds too that were Japanese cultivars. Check through your seed swap seeds again! :-)

Nice blooms, ladies! Lots of pretties.

Jackie - LOL about your lazy Youjiro! I often have to help get my vines started climbing and then they get the idea! ;-)

Emma,

Your Kai no Kasumi and Black Queen are truly stunning! I just love the richness of Black Queen's color...

Elsa

Thank you Elsa,

I also like the Kai no Kasumi. These blooms are F3 from my original and only seed pod from the first year. You have to beg this JMG for seeds. However, each year that I grow it, I get a few more seeds each time.
Same with Black Queen. Doesn't produce a lot of seeds.

Here is Tempest F3 Cross.
This is the MG that blooms many patterns on the same vine

Another Tempest F3

Wow, I can just imagine how exciting it must be, having such different looking beauties on the same vine... I especially like the second one.

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Elsa,

Yes, Tempest is quite unusual.
I have made myself a note to send you seeds of this one.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Emma, Black Queen looks to be the darkest we've seen so far, very
pretty. I also like Kasumi and the variable Tempest..

This one marked Mauve Silk but looks more like a Chocolate Silk

this is the "Shibori Purple" from Gray Lady x Shibori purple from seeds I got from Becky either in a newbie swap or a piggy swap, can't remember. I collected the seeds from the plant that looked like this and grew again this year. I've got it growing up one side of a ladder we took apart and stuck in the ground. Aristolochia trilobata ( Dutchman's pipevine) is also on the ladder.

'Flying Spark' got me excited this morning.

Thumbnail by

Here is the fabulous N26, from my first wave of JMGs.

Thumbnail by

The flower of N32 glows in the morning light.

Thumbnail by

Here is the first flower of N25, very nice blue in this flower. The flower I believe had just opened hence probably the wavy appearance.

Thumbnail by

N40 may have a deeper blue than N25. Both are awesome.

Thumbnail by

N3 has slightly darker pink color along primary folds.

Thumbnail by

Emma, is there a subtle pink in the Momo Gasumi flower? You captured it well.

Awesome flowers, Emma, Jackie and MJ!

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

ok... I'm Blond AND Gray, can you explain the Letter/Number you guys are using as identification ?

Q was already claimed by Kyushu University. N was where the dart landed. Seriously now, I use N as an indicator of where the seeds came from and the number is just an arbitrary sequential number starting from 1 to however many seedlings germinated from the seed mix.

Thanks Joseph,

Wow, great line-up you have going.
Your 'Flying Spark' is STUNNING! What a great color.

My Momo Gasumi have just started blooming a couple of days ago and yes, that particular bloom does have a subtle pink. I am learning they are probably going to produce different Pink variations, similar to Akatsuki no Tsuyu. Also, my camera did capture the exact color

Here is another bloom from this morning that has a bit more pink

Another Momo Gasumi that I almost missed *ha*
But, at least you can see the colors

I really like this Pink and do not recall ever seeing a MG with this exact color
You can not miss seeing this bloom. It gets your attention immediately

I like the new color pattern on Akatsuki no Tsuyu, Emma. I agree, I haven't ever seen such a pattern on any Blue Silk flowers I've grown (thinking that Blue Silk and Akatsuki no Tsuyu were the same critter).

Pretoria, South Africa

Thanks, Emma.Can't wait. LOL!

Joseph, your "Flying Spark" and "N40" are very neat.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Joseph, thank you. Your Flying Spark is a great color. Love those blues
and the pink N3 is a beauty.

Thanks Emma. Love the different Blue Silk, and the Momo Gasumi that's
showing more pink..N1014 is a pretty pink.
