To finish off summer and this thread the last set is of the Cape May Warbler...this bird is the only warbler singing, the rest are just making their basic peeps and calls while feeding.

Wowee, Burd. Talk about going out on a high note. What a fantastic variety you captured. Can't wait for the fall thread.

Melbourne, FL

Your shots are all awesome. I especially like the Black-throated Green Warbler. It deserves a prettier name.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

That is one adorable group of birds, burd. So when you set up on the path, how do you decide where to sit? Is every area just as dense with these beauties? I'm actually quite terrible at field work.

Thanks all!

Got there about 4pm and it was overcast (Magnolia pics) went down the path to where it opened up by the marsh for more light...made sure the sun (when it finally broke through) was behind me most of the time for my shots. Berries are on both sides of the path...good way to spot them was to watch them fly back and forth across the path. But they are everywhere along the path...birds were really active after 5pm up until the sun started to set when I left. Find a lot of wild berry bushes and you will probably find the warblers etc.

Okee dokee I will look for that kind of setup. are you in a blind or in the open. I know a few pokeberry patches that I try to stalk, but looks like the waxwings have stripped them already!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Outstanding Burd!! I really, really love your last shot of the Magnolia! I hope to get over to Depauw University Nature Center this week.

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Fantastic shots Burd, you have a great spot for Warblers.

Linthicum Heights, MD(Zone 7a)

Another excellent series of bird life at Sheldon's Follies. It is indeed a great site for migrating warblers.

Sandusky, OH

Thanks everyone for the nice comments! I do consider myself lucky for living where I do for migration...Sheldon's is ideal for songbirds coming back across the lake. It is loaded with goodies to fatten up on before moving on southward.

I don't use a blind at Sheldon's Mrs_Ed...I just stand to the side of the path with camera on tripod and only move (a few feet) here and there. There are certain spots that have more going on along the path than others. The only bird that I didn't post was the Black-throated Blue Warbler but they were earlier along the path and Ive seen plenty of those. The marsh area itself is at a standstill with only a small pool of water left.
