I did witness a female Belted Kingfisher catch a good size Drum...it beat it against the rocks for about 10 minutes before she swallowed it..never seen that before...it may be a week before I go back, vacation is over and its time to get back to work. Till next time.
Sheldon's Follies Summer 2010
Great images, Burd. The detail you've captured on the back of the GBH is superb. Wow on the shot of the heart shape. It really is your buddy, throwing you hearts like that.
Well done Burd!!! You've captured some very detailed images. It shows me what that camera can do. The subject behind the lens has studied it real good.
Thanks Margaret! When I use the light correctly it really shows. lol
Thanks Burn! The combination of the T1i and the 400mm f5.6 has me very content. ;)
A few pics from my walk through today. Not every day is going to be a good one, today was overcast/hot/humid. Occasionally the sun broke through.
This Downy was doing some preening.
Beautiful shots Burd!
More great photos! I enjoyed seeing all of them!!
Its been 40 days since my last visit here...all the shorebird's at Pipe Creek had me hooked for quite a while...and now that's its closed... its time to start to focus on Sheldon's Follies once again. I'm sort of bumping the thread this time...its hot and will be checking out the marsh more this weekend. Do have 2 shots from today, about 40 min. walk...hot hot hot.

Love the Green Herons Burd!
Finally was able to have time to stop by the marsh. Winds have been from the south and have been persisting for the last few days...so that may be keeping the Warbler's from crossing the lake...but that will be changing soon and hopefully the Warbler's will start coming. It was hot again today...so not much action...and the marsh is down to one lone pool of water just like last year. There were a few Great Blue Heron's and Great Egrets in the marsh and lots of gull's feeding about a 1/2 mile off the beach.
Seen 2 Warbler's today...a Pine Warbler and this (fall) Blackpoll.

Nice ones Burd!
You have tons of beautiful shots....especially the Egret shots. The water lilies are beautiful too. Great series.
Finally was able to spend more than 45min. at the marsh...the Warbler's are arriving more and more every visit and I was able to get a few shots. The foilage is very thick right now and it was very hard trying to get shots in sharp focus, but the leaves are starting to fall so it should get better. Will be taking trips as long as the sun shines...hoping to get a new warbler before they all leave in a few weeks.
Blackpoll Warbler...the legs should be the deciding factor when Iding this bird (yellow) or the Bay-breasted Warbler (dark) legs...but my field guide has a (dull) Blackpoll version that has darker legs. But most should have the yellow legs.
Lovely birds, Burd. What a darling the Philadelphia Vireo is. That bit of white on the Black-throated Blue Warbler looks like a tiny little spider.
Love the Black-throated Blue Warbler Burd! Very nice pics!
Ditto on the Black-throated Blue!
I've been hoping to see some warblers in the yard. I usually get a couple.
Oh yeah...Blck-throated Blue is GORGEOUS!!!! All your pics are great and I love seeing all the warblers!
I saw several warblers when out walking this morning ...hope I got a good photo or two.
The Warblers are really nice, and great shot of the Flicker coming toward you.
Nice shots, Burd. That sure is a warbler haven. Send some my way !
Love them all! Thanks for sharing!
