I don't ever recall seeing the tail feathers of a bird so clearly as it groomed itself after a bath. This is a Calif. Towhee.

Red Bellied Woodpeck AKA Mizzy found herself a peanut. She brought it to the woodpeckers' favorite spot to enjoy her find.

Wow, you guys have been clicking. Lots of great photos on this thread.

I only have two to share.

One is Goldfinch getting a sip of water. It was hot and dry today on Columbus, Ga.

Here's another GOFIN waiting its turn at the feeder. Usually the finches feeder together, but not this time.

Hah, Hack I am longing for those Goldfinches. When they were here, the House Finches and GOFIN coexist peacefully too. I miss that brilliant yellow feather and their cheerful personality.

Here is a Black Crowned Night Heron that visited for a good while yesterday. Oh, I'm heading outdoor for I just saw a great Egret in its place, ooops! There comes the Great Blue Heron bumping the GE off the spot. Sorry folks, I missed all that action shot....oh well. Maybe later.

Looks like I've about missed this thread. Lily, don't think I've seen a BC night heron this year.

I've been in TX this week. Went birding yesterday at the Lake Lewisville Environmental Learning Center. It's a good place to bird in the Dallas area. Saw a White Ibis which is unusual for this area. No pic. Here is a pic of a Green Heron.

Well, I took the time to sit outside, in the shade, this morning and I took a few pics I'd like to share. These 6 are not all I took, but all I got worked up for posting

This female cardinal was looking pretty.

This robin was distant, the sun was to its left and cast a shadow across it's red breast.

I thought this male House Finch looked real good in his red plumage. I keep looking for the yellow variant, but no luck yet.

Man, I haven't seen a Brown-headed Nuthatch in a while. This one made many trips to the feeder and then back up to a limb to eat.

I'll post some more, latter, time to go get some breakfast.

Red, it's a treat each time I get to see those night Herons. The Green Herons are the one that I've yet successfully photographed. Have a ton of fun and birding in Tx. I'm looking forward to more pics. in the near future when you get home.

Hack the BHNH comes infrequently anymore. Like those adorable Goldfinches, I welcome their visit every time. Nice catch with its "catch" on the beak.

Oh Red. Your herp encounter gave me a chills.

Papa Cardinal is out with his young again. Moma stopped by briefly to check on the "guys" then she flew off.
