Gita.........keep up that crabbing and I shall suggest you are dealing in deprivation torture. By the time they get this far North they are no good. Your flashing of the best causes my glands to juice up. I was hungry going to sleep. If that is not torture I do not know what is.
Just half of that crab is about the size that caught my last fifty pound fish from the high tide at the Outter Banks. This brings about compound deprivation torture. You are mean!
My bamboo Hatteras Heaver is quivering too. LOGLMAO
July Blooms
Here is a pepper plant from Critter.
Critter, the other peppers from you are also doing well. The long chilly pepper plant (not sure of variety) has produced quite a lot of peppers. Another variety is favored by rabbits though. I didn't know rabbits would eat nightshades until I saw one munching on the pepper plant. As a result, the plant has remained a stubby little thing. Not sure what type of peppers it will (or ever will) produce. Must be some sort of sweet peppers. LOL.

New August thread
I'll go put a watch on the new thread but wanted to say thanks for that great photo of Pretty Purple Pepper -- it's a cutie! The "long" hot pepper could be Kung Pao if the peppers are skinny, like not much more than 1/4 inch across... or could be 'Hot Portugal' if they''re more like an inch across at the stem end. If you've got mint growing, scatter some clippings around the plant that the bunnies are munching -- usually works for me!
Ahhhh-----
I will add another picture of the Pretty purple pepper......I have them in a window box--and also in a container planting....
This is from the window box....
Donner....YES! The S.A. Foxglove is a beauty! Mine is unbelievably big and blooming away....Will have a lot of seeds....Sally said theat hers are already brown, hard wood--and splitting.....I will wait, patiently, until mine split---it was too hard getting to the seeds all on my own.....
Thanks for the follow-up on my "babies".....I appreciate that.
Kind of backwards--but here is how tall and branched out my S.A. Foxglove is.....
I am endlessly amazed how big it can grow!!! The seeds I had to share last year were from a 21/2' tall plant--the only one I had, that bloomed...
This year???? WHOA!!!!! See the measly-sized Peonie bush below it on the left???
Those little purple peppers will eventually turn orange and then deep red... so wait for them to ripen all the way before collecting seed. They have very little flesh; most of that little ball is filled with seeds. :-)
Testing. If nothing shows up I will still be testing. LOL
Jill,
I KNOW i took a picture of mine where there were all the colors---from purple to orange to red.....
Can't seem to find it......will re-take.....
Thanks, Gita.. my photos of it seem to be mostly purple peppers and lavender blooms, and the plants in my window boxes aren't looking so attractive this year.
They sure are thriving! How big are those plants? Mine always stay really compact (not more than 5 or 6 inches high or across), but I think that's partly because they go into my railing planters or along the front walk, so they probably don't have as much root room or as much water as they might enjoy elsewhere.
Very pretty flowers. Having a bit of trouble getting the pics to enlarge not the best connection down here.
Gita would you save me seeds from the fountain grass.
Wish us luck on the crabs Ric and I will be heading out shortly to bring in the crab pots.
I had quite a few peppers on the black pearl ornamental pepper plants they sure are pretty.
I'll be heading over to the Aug thread soon.
Jill,
The one in the 1st picture is growing in one of those heavy, clay W-boxes--along with Impatiens, marigolds and this and that on the East side of my house--on the :kitchen porch. Never use that door! Fill AM sun until 2-3PM.
The Pepper is, probably, 6" or so tall.....
There are 3 of these W-Boxes--2 on the top landing and one on the bottom--on top of 2 blocks.
That is where the Pepper is--you can see it...
***Please ignore the trash can! I took another pic of all this w/o it. still in camera....
Will do so on August Flowers Post.....Soon....
The other Pepper is growing in a big, white plastic pot--the ones that sit on a pedestal. Not the best soil in that--as it started out with a Geranium in it that I carried over dormant in my basement--and I did not change the soil....
The stems on that Pepper are a lot longer.....as you can see in Pic. #2.
Holly--I didn't know the Fountain Grass made seeds!!! I guess it must.....I will pull off some of the "heads" later...
You know--it IS an annual! Makes a humongous root system!
Gita
GitaGal.. Thanks for the invite to this forum. I have seen many lovely pictures...
I must tell you, I have a very special place in my heart and on my patio for that "Alabama Sunset" Coleus.. ; )
Thank you... I have noticed alot of good vibes in this forum. I pay attention to Gitagals post all over DG because she always has a nice warm attitude, she is knowledgable and enjoys sharing with others. I have only been seriously gardening for about 2 years, so I still have alot to learn.
Thanks for the warm welcome.... I'm not actually Mid-Atlantic, I'm GulfCoast but I think I can learn alot for the way you all garden..
Welcome Daisylovn, I think it is always fun to visit different Zone areas to see how they garden and what plants grow in those areas. Have you checked out the new Aug Bloom thread? I have been lax getting there myself but I do have a few pics to post over there.
Daisey---
Hop on over here.......before we get to September Blooms.....
