If you want some small bulbs, let me know, it think there will be plenty to harvest in the fall.
They seem to take the heat fine. I am inexperienced with these, but I don't anticipate any disease to move in and wipe them out.
here is what is blooming for me today in july
Lynn--really like Gabriel's horn and OBM. OBM was one that got tossed recently. And I didn't notice the mildew til you mentioned it! LOL! Was focused on the pretty pink flowers.
So glad you didn't notice LOL.I just need to get down to business and get to work on my plants.Only a couple have a little mildew, but I need to nip it in the bud before it gets out of hand.
Lynn
Hi John;
I would love some small bulbs, actually i think they are rhizomes, lol at any rate i would love any you might have xtra.
thanks mrsbonnie
Do we still use Lysol dis. infect. spray for mildew?
Lynn -- Love Gabriel's Horn too! Quick question -- my Playful Spectrum bloomed quite white the first time round and now is blooming almost all pink with just a little white (shot below) Did yours take a while to settle into blooming with a nice proportion of pink and white? Or do you think this is a matter of culture? Or (sulk) did I just buy a particularly "pink blooming" plant? Any thoughts would be appreciated !
Connie-- sorry about the dumb question about sinningias & heat. I actually HAD been reading the thread earlier, but I guess I forgot when I posted later (sieve memory). Guess it's just MY BRAIN that doesn't do so well with heat ...

I don't think you are alone in that Helene...sigh....^_^
I still use Lysol.I just need to spray.
Jan,this is the third bloom for me.Some blossoms are more pink, but all have always had a lot of fantasy and a large white center.I would just wait and see what the next bloom looks like.
Lynn
Alsobia--had a large plant, which I chopped up and gave away many suckers, keeping only one for myself b/c it had grown so easily for me. Well, it struggled and struggled, was sure I would lose it along w/the numerous violets I lost. It is finally growing after several re-pottings and repositionings.
Just wanted to show the difference between blooms on same plant--top flower was the first to open, the lower bloom had much richer coloring on top of bloom(term?) and on the 2 upper tips of petals. I actually thought the first flower was going to be white before it opened.

Jan,
They look wonderful to me.The Senks looks like it's trying to form a seedpod.
Lynn
I quess the term would be upper lobes?
Lynn--on the Senk's...to the left of the seed pod is the actual bloom--yuch! LOL!
It looks like they are recovering nicely!!
You are becoming a regular AV Dr, congrats.
Hi everyone! Old friends and new! Sorry I haven't posted on Gessie forum in so long! About the only place I have been posting in months is the Bird Watching forum, as that is what I mostly get photo ops of these days.
Still have some AVs... though they need some TLC! LOL! Only one I have taken a photo of lately was my yellow episcia 'My Precious' when it bloomed.
Hope all are well! I still think of you often! Just staying busy with work and kids and photography! And it has been so HOT here!
Hugs to all!
Karen
Pretty yellow episcia! Nice to see you here!
My Precious is adorable!!
You are quite welcome, & this little one will bring you much joy as it self propagates itself.
mrsbonnie
It's so cute!!
She looks very happy!!
Thanks, if you noticed the dusty petals -- these were signs of my pollination attempts lol.
Bonnie! This is exactly what the little plant I have that you like looks like! Only the label I have in it says Lil Snowdrift. I'm gonna write Darryl and see if he has a record of my buying Pixie Runaround or PR Sport. I have no recall of doing so, but it's been a stressful year...who knows?

LIL Snowdrift is a double white and blue mini with gorgeous ruffled, variegated foliage.
Lynn
it's pretty anyway. lol
bonnie
Jan,
That looks like Lil Snowdrift to me.I'll see if I can find a picture.
Lynn
Here is a picture from a different site.Karin has a photo on her site also.

Yes--that is what I recall--except my leaves were a little darker shaded. Anyhoo--that is certainly not what I have now, and Darryl confirms I never purchased it, and I am quite sure I haven't purchased a chimera--I'm gonna go with sent in error somewhere along the way, and survived the holocaust of the winter of 09/10.
ADD:
This just came from Darryl after I sent him this photo... http://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m370/fleebeesmom/AV%20Mini/plantstandstuff005.jpg
I'm going to say it's "close" but I don't believe it is Pixie Runaround sport. The foliage isn't quite right and the variegation appears to be more "Champion" or "Crown" then "Tommie Lou". You may have a sport of Lil Snowdrift. Do you have the software program, First Class from the African Violet Society of America? I just looked up Lil Snowdrift and it has the crown variegation that appears to be similar to the foliage in the picture you sent. BTW, if you don't have First Class...go to the AVSA website (www.avsa.org) and buy it. Assuming of course you have a PC and not a Mac as the program isn't Apple compatible.
I'm going to list over 100 auctions tomorrow afternoon so be on the lookout.
Happy Growing!
Darryl
I might want to look at the auctions.Who is Darryl?
