here is what is blooming for me today in july
Beautiful plants and blooms. I love the two Dibley's. They are outstanding. Great growing. Lou
Thanks for starting the month off with some beauties, Bonnie!
Bonnie,
They are so gorgeous.I love that harlequion blue with all the yellow on the flower.
Lynn
Very beautiful! Love the Dibley's Harlequin also. Such a pretty combination.
Great growing!!!
Happy 4th!
Kim
Oh Bonnie, how beautiful! Thanks for sharing those. I can't believe its July already!

Bonnie--I loooove african violet Ann. I love the streps as well, but after I "learned" to grow them, I couldn't keep them alive anymore!
Some new blooms-- I was thrilled that these even grew--I had dumped the tubers into empty pots last year, where they sat for months--no soil, no moss. And I actually have a few more coming. We won't mention the micro-mini's I lost d/t neglect after my accident. :-(
These pics do not reflect the intensity of the colors--the striped one has a beautiful green throat that barely shows in pic. I have that one labeled as S. Flair. The orange one is labeled Super Orange--it is the color of orange sherbet. I think both are mini's--but not 100% sure.

They are beauties Jan!!
ooh! Pretty, Connie! What exactly is Nancy?
She is a Florist Gloxinia. I LOVE those when they bloom! I want more of them but not until it starts cooling off.
Connie
It a cutie Connie!! They really don't mind heat.
Lynn
Shouldn't have told me that, Sis!! Rainy day with the computer on my lap and reading this....DANGEROUS (grin). Hubby and I can't stop laughing...(ya know what I am talking about, Lynn)
Connie
WOW to all of th above and the grin on a rainy day...... Helene
oh wow, what beauties everyone has, see i am not alone.lol yes,,,,,, rainy days & the internet,,,,,, not good. lol
mrsbonnie
Even more dangerous when you've stuck to violets and you realize you're just getting started when you see all these gorgeous varieties of "other" gessies. Hubby is looking a bit nervous.
Connie, I love your 'Nancy'. I am such a sucker for variegated flowers. Do you do anything special with her, or are gloxinia pretty easy to bloom?
I have a cool new Russian -- "Night in Tigers Fell". It's blooming and too gorgeous. I'll post it if I can get my darn computer to recognize my camera/phone!
Thanks for sharing everyone.
Jan (wiggiej)
Ooops -- meant to type 'darn computer'. Posting from a phone can be dangerous too!
Had to put on my glasses to be sure, but that's 2 "darns" on my computer--LOL!
Yeah, I see that now. Had to zoom this dinky little screen. Guess I'm a bit fuzzy around the edges -- 97 out and our air decided to decided to konk out ... After making a small flood in the basement. One of those days, I guess ... :{
Thanks Jan! No, I don't do anything special except they do seem to need more water during the blooming period. I don't wick my gloxinias. They are growing in a southern exposed window right now until we get air ducts ran into our plant room. Got too hot with the lights on. I hate I couldn't get a "true" color on her as that deep purple is jaw dropping :)
Connie
Connie -- thanks for the info. I take it they (gloxinias) don't like heat in general -- or is it leaf burn you're worried about?
I have the same problem with getting purples/blues right in photos. I do a lot of photography and know pretty well how to adjust things like that, but for some reason photographing violets "accurately" is quite hard. At least the blues/purples have given me fits lately. LOL.
Jan
Hi All,
Well, the air is fixed, the basement is drier, and miracle of all miracles, it was a SMALL repair (and a big relief)! But ... my computer STILL won't talk to my camera/phone, and since I did want to share a pic of the Russian I mentioned, I finally gave in and got out my actual camera. The shot is below.
It's called Knight in Tigers Fell or Vityaz' v Tigrovoi Shkure. LL describes it as having a "discrete wide white edge (dash-line)" which I don't actually see here, but this may well be its very first bloom, so perhaps it will show in time. Or maybe I haven't quite learned to spot these things. In any case, I'm in love. For all I know, all of you may already have one, and they sell 'em at Walmart, but I'm pretty excited about it anyhow!
Jan
It's lovely Jan!! And they certainly don't sell Russians at stores around here.I could clearly see the soft white edging.
Lynn
what a beauty.
bonnie
Nope--don't have it--that's a pretty fancy find for Walmart! And it is quite beautiful!
Very nice John!!
Lynn
I do love achimenes! I just recently got around to getting mine out of the cellar and watered. A few had started to grow ... if I had brought them out and watered them in April or early May, I'd have a lot of blooming by now! Oh well..it won't get frost til end of Oct, mid Nov, so they have a lot of time left.
I have a couple sinningias blooming. I'm growing quite a few of them in jars so I don't have to water as often. I tried to take pictures but when I downloaded them into the computer they disapeared some place and I can't find them. they always go to my pictures but not this time ; (
Enjoying seeing everyone elses.
tish
I am having a little problem with mildew on the last one as you probably noticed LOL.
Lynn
