Oh Jim...that is sad. Have you told them you would like them to visit more often?
Bothersome little things
As long as we're on a roll here. hehehe...How about the ones who "forget" to flush?
LOL still...I remember the colored TP. And ladies when trompping through the woods and the "call" just cannot be ignored look first to be sure you're not squatting over a patch of poison ivy!! :-))))
Eeeew,
My FIL spits a big hocker into the potty many times a day and doesn't flush it... he "misses" the bowl and you sit down into a big hocker if you don't look first...
And Hubby was taught not to flush at night because they are all light sleepers...
<{{{:><
Why is it,that you work your hinney off and no one comes to see you. then when the house is as messy as it can possibly get ,here they come! I too, have been through all the dilemas above, but the worst time was on a thanksgiving day, when the toilet backed up and would't flush (after some one dropped a BIG load)Plumbing is not one of my DH's skills. Did I mention ? only one pot.I could write a book too! this is hillarious.
tink - you are so right about clean house = no company, messy house = company. I have solution - just keep your vacuum cleaner in the middle of the first room company sees and just announce - oh you caught me in the middle of cleaning!
I have to confess. Somebody here at DG suggested Flylady for those of us who need a little encouragement in the housecleaning department. I signed up right around the time of the September 11 bombings. Despite everything, my kitchen sink has stayed clean, and the rest of my kitchen is staying neater somehow too. In fact, my whole house is starting to stay neater, without much extra effort on my part.
Jewel, I've done the "you caught me cleaning" routine, LOL! Hopefully I won't have to do any encore performances :)
What a great question to post!
I've been laughing and laughing reading all of your replies!
Sukytawdry, I can identify with the rolled up socks and underwear, especially the dirty underwear on the floor by the hamper.
When my youngest son went off to college, it took me a good week to realize that there'd be no more dirty underwear on the floor in his room.
All that I can say is that they grow up way too fast.
Again, this has been such a fun thread to read...thanks!
Melissa/Oscarsdotter :-)
I'm going to make me a sign:
If you came to see a Nice house....Martha Stewart doesn't live here!
If you came for GOOD company, come on out to the kitchen!
Jo
Ok I couldn't stand it any longer. The son leaving for college did me in. lol My son is in collge and was the worlds worst at leaving anything and everything where he last used it. That got allot better when he went off to college but heck fire I think he passed it on to DH. lol now he does the same dang things. Takes his shoes and socks off where ever. Clothes never go to the hamper just whereever he takes them off. MMMMMM think it's time to tell him he's not a kid. lol GV I did the flylady thing too.. I lasted a few days and the emails did me in but I have to admit I still have a clean sink! lol
Well what all you folks with "seat-wetters" might do is install a urinal at minimal height. My five kids were all perfect (and they are all "gone") so we never had any problems.HEEHEEHEEHEHEHEEEEEAARRRRGH!!
and you expect us to believe that right? lol
This year's winner for the Liars Club award was a man who said he had two sons and three flashlights and they all worked. I bet he would have competition from the boys with the perfect aim. BTW, what is the flylady?
Aimee..you beat me to the question!! What IS flylady??? Inquiring minds with messy houses need to know. LOL
Flylady is a site that helps you get your house cleaned and organized. Lots of good tips but the emails where to much for me. She sends emails telling you what you need to be doing etc. Here's the link to it. http://www.flylady.net/
In theory, Mystic.....LOL. I went there and read a lot, but I was too chicken to commit!
Well GW I took the plunge ...... lol and didn't last long. lol They emailed me to death.( and yes I know I can delete them but it really bogged down my server trying to download them)so I ended up canceling it.
Well, who needs someone to nag us anyway? I know what the rest of the world thinks I should be doing, but I'm just naturally out of sync and I like me this way. So I read about it here, but didn't even bother to go to the site after Mystic and gardenwife clued me. Heck, Ive spent years getting to the point I can relax and ignore the chores.
I am blessed that DH is pretty easy-going. But the house has gotten to the point to where even HE is really bothered by it. Mainly it's cathair tumbleweeds and hardwood floors. Ugh. But I cleaned the $&%$(&% out of the living room on Wednesday, so that's a start! Is my sink shiny? Heck, I can't even see the sink - I need to do dishes!
GW, when I get that urge, I put them under some warm water to soak, and then I feel like I did something about them without taking so much time and work. Eventually, I will do them, but they might need to soak awhile.
