GG, I'm sorry you're experiencing problem with Grackles, hope someone here has a solution to offer. I enjoy my flatform feeders, but they attract largr birds even squirrels. So I don't use them as much anymore. My grains feeder is hung very close to my window, Crows and Grackles appear to shy away when they spotted me inside the house as they came to explore the feeder. That seem to deter them from returning trips. Go figure, I'd never thought I would make a perfect scare crows. lol

Titmouse visiting my peanut feeder this morning. What's a cute little one!

GrannyGrunt - sorry to hear of your problem. I think I'd let the feeders run out and not refill for a while. I'd think they'd soon move on. If you're worried about you favored birds not returning, don't be. Once, when I went to Texas for a week, my feeders ran dry. When I returned, I was alarmed to find no birds - nothing. But, I refilled the feeders and shortly they were back.

Or, maybe by just walking out there you would disturb them enough that they'd move on.

Wish I had a sure-fire solution.

Sorry,
Hack

PS - Lily_love, I saw a Tufted Titmouse just the other day, but didn't have my camera. Right now, they are scarce around here. Your titmouse pic looks good.

Titmouse at the peanuts 'cage', and was working away. Sorry the lighting wasn't adequate since I was facing the morning sun rays.

Good morning Hack, have you seen your Brown Headed Nuthatches lately? I only see the White Breasted ones here all through the season. Oh those cute Titmice, sometime their loud songs wake me up in the morning. They are residents around here year round as well.

Here is a profile of the Eastern Kingbird arriving this morning at its favorite hunting spot.

editted to correct my 'accent' errr typos.

Morning Lily, nope, haven't seen any B-h Nuthatches lately, but did see one earlier this month.

I snapped a terrible pic of it. I think I put it on the Awful pics forum. I snapped the pic on Jun 5th of this year. I haven't seen any W-b Nuthatches, yet.

Thanks Hack. That is probably what I will have to do.

My neighbor has a sure fire solution, but I will not permit him to carry it out!! Walking out and scaring them does not work. Some fly away, but the others just turn and glare at me. In a way, it is amusing, if it were not so darned expensive to feed them!

GG....sorry to hear about your grackles too. We are enjoying(not!) a new batch of grackle fledglings. Me personally would hate to take all the feeders down with all the juvies around. But that would be a solution.

The crows are back now the they are done nesting!! They do keep the visits short while the grackles are here tho!

Chipping Sparrow...not as many of the as usual. But that maybe because I have no ground dishes out this summer due to the squirrles & chipmunks.

Nanny, I, too am reluctant to take down the feeders. There are juvies of all varieties here; the woodpeckers and cat birds are constantly taking suet to their broods. So, this morning I filled everything again and am watching the $$ gobblers at work.

To put the frosting on the cake, yesterday one of the rotten things somehow got onto the screened-in porch. I had the door propped open for about five minutes while I was taking some things to the workshop. I finally had to catch it to free it because it was too contemptible to leave the way it came in. The rotten thing bit the heck out of my finger! It is sooooooooooooo lucky I didn't wring it's rotten neck and hang it up on display!!

The pests do at least present good photo ops when they get into that birdbath! LOL

I guess like Pelle and you, and so many others, we suffer. Perhaps next year they will go someplace else! Yeah, right!!

Ahhh, GG, I'd gladly take some of your unwanted guys. I have no idea why, but I just have this thing for all my Blackbirds and Crows. They're mean and pushy, all of them, but that's the way they survive.

I enjoyed seeing everyone's photos.

Here's one of my younger Brewer's Blackbirds that was hunting for food along the shore.

And, again one of my Crows that was sitting out in the sun. It was hotter than normal but the bird didn't seem to mind.
