DAILY PICS VOL. 330
..here is an ooops shot..
LOL Rose!
Nice ones burn!
DM, Their adorable!!
Congratulations Mary on your Dove. I don't know how your Dove ended up in your yard, but weather can play a role in range anomalies. In 2005, hurricane Katrina hit N.O., and a month later, hurricane Rita went ashore in west Louisiana near the Texas border. After Rita, a flock of Black Bellied Whistling Ducks showed up at the rookery in Audubon Park in New Orleans. They stayed for the winter and have returned every winter since. Their normal range is west of here. I can only guess that the hurricane drove them from their normal habitat to Audubon Park, which they found to be a supportive environment, and have returned yearly.
Todays excitement for me was a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers! I had seen one two days ago, and got many excellent "awful bird pics." This is the best - check out that flame-thrower crest!
That is exciting gazer!!
Thanks Pelletory. I was very excited to see them.
I would be super excited too gazer!
Here is a video of Peregrine Falcons with a nest of chicks on an Atlantic City Casino.

Thanks, Pell. Great P. Falcon video...nice to know there are lots of bird lovers around!!
I wish the BBW ducks would have a stopover in AR ;o)
Gazergirl, I feel your excitement. That's a great moment and I'm glad your camera card had what space it had! There was an article in the newspaper a couple of days ago about Memphis' newest unusual resident -- Yellow-crowned Night Herons. You can read about it here:

Wow, gg congrats on the Pileated Woodpecker pair. I'd be beside myself if it were happening to me.
Rose, lol your "oops shot"!
Burn, your lady finch, chickadee and warbler are cute. The birds sure can tell us when their feeders are empty. Love their expressions.
DM, the ducklings are adorable. Love that one with the dark head.
Gazer, I'm excited for you seeing the wp pair!
Pelle, that falcon video is really interesting and the babies are just precious. It's wonderful that the hotel will allow them to continue nesting there. I thought I saw one here last week, but haven't seen it since.
Nanny, love your little nuthatch.
Lily, that's quite a few swallows you have there. Glad to see they've fledged.
Here's one of my crows resting on a shrub.
Awesome shots of the Cape Weaver and C. Gull Little_Things. Duc, how I wished I could see them quails around here. The 3 Tree Swallows are a handsome bunch! That Ca. Towhee juvie gave me a chuckle, don't know how your dog will react to that?
Little things, Your Cape Weaver looks very similar to our Orioles, even the beak is the same. Love that bright eye and the nest is just beautiful. Beautiful gull photos too.
Lily, our dogs really don't care about the birds, but if a squirrel were near that dish it would be a different story.
Great shots everyone!
Lily, Good to see the update on the Cliff Swallows!
Nanny, Sweet Nuthatch!
Duc, That Towhee and Swallows are so cute!
Little, Wonderful pics of the Weaver and Gull.
Turkeys are back & seem to think that the garden is dust bath territory. When I line out new seedlings I see I will have to put the hardware cloth over them.
Adel, Nice ones of the Quail and Tree Swallows!
Nanny, That's a handsome Brown Thrasher!
What great pictures everyone! I am in love with the Cape Weavers nest. And I'm betting money that the water in Duc's dog bowl is as fresh as can be found. Today I spied (what I believe to be) an albino Mockingbird. It is very freaky seeing an all white bird in the wild. I went back to try and take a picture, but couldn't find it. I will try to search it out in the future.
