Is there a way you could make something to keep track of posts we have read? Ya know like when you go to a link and said link changes color, because you have been there already. On posts that are extremely long, it's hard sometimes to figure out where you left off in reading. I usually pinpoint a name and time and go from there. Is there anyway to make it easier? If not no biggy, keep doing things the same way. But I just thought it would be a bit easier for some of us.
THanks for reading,

Hmmm, that's an interesting idea. I've been wondering how to solve this problem...

I go to a thread with 20 replies, 10 of which I have not yet seen, and I have to take a moment to orient myself and figure out where I had left off.

What would be neat is a link at the top of the thread that says: "Take me straight to the first new reply" or something, and clicking it will jump straight down to the latest reply in that thread.

Additionally, a little "New" icon appearing on posts that you have not yet seen in a thread would be cool.

I don't know if this is actually feasible or not (I'll have to dive into the code and see) but it's a fantastic idea.

Wow, you are quick :) Yeah I wasn't sure how possible it would be, being that we aren't actually clicking on links or anything like that to view replies. DOes the Html code change or anything like that when more replies are added to a thread? Because if you could somehow set it up to where cookies, or whatnot remembers the last time you clicked, it would be excellent. I like the idea of *new* being put on the new posts. But I know with all the code and everything you have to go through might not be possible. It was a suggestion, one that may or may not work. WHatever happens I'll still be reading...lol
Thanks a bunch

I have been on another site that tells you how many posts are new (on that page) since you last visited... maybe you could use whatever code tracks that to apply to each page of posts.

It wouldn't be able to tell you what you read, but it could possibly track the pages of posts that had been opened and whether or not new posts have been placed there??

This site has "NEW" notices on the ones that are new since my last visit. Here is the link; http://www.laguna2001.com/barbo/index.pl

Enjoy unraveling the mystery!

I can't believe you got it done so soon after asking for it. You are terrific. Thats really what I love about this site. You ask 99% of the time you get.
Thanks so much.

It seems closer to what I suggested in a thread. Prev page/Next page... page numbers..
