Well, I took some "distance" pics with my 400mm and then cropped the crap out of them.

Here's how they look:
This Carolina Chickadee stayed still just long enough.

This is my last one for tonight.

Over on the left is daddy House Sparrow. His brood kept following him around, pecking the ground here he did. But, at least they weren't following him around with their mouths wide open.

Nanny great pictures, especially of the Red-bellied pair. Enjoyed the action on that Robin. The Grackle, P. Martins and Doves look like they're enjoying themselves.

Burn, great catchs on your Song Sparrow.

Venu, that nest sure looks strong. Glad we may get to see more babies later on.

Hack, that new lens is a beauty. Your pictures are great, especially the Chickadee!

Mrs Ed, love your splishy-splashy picture!

Here's one of my many Scrub Jays.

Several juvie House Sparrows landed on the deck railing and were checking it out.

This one was trying to break off a piece of the branch-silly bird, that's Manzanita and very hard wood.

I feel so bad for my Tree Swallows. We took the houses down and now they just sit around.

Thumbnail by ducbucln
Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

They just don't understand that our house is going to be painted soon and we can't let them start another nest.

Mrs. Ed, love your splish-splashy Robin.

Awwwwwwwwww Duc, how can you resist the face that swallow?? LOL

Marlton, NJ

Mrs Ed, Love the Robin!

Duc, Excellent shots. I agree, those faces of the Tree Swallows would be enough to make me send the painters away till Fall, lol.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

agree with the cuteness. Go away painters!!!

My female Hairy Woodpecker brought one of her juveniles in to feed. Here are a few photos of this sweetie pie. Isn't she/he adorable?

Awww, Pelle, what an adorable baby. That look of innocence in the first photo is so sweet. You did a great job with the photos.

Marlton, NJ

Thanks duc, I was so happy to see the little one. :-)

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

OMG. too cute.

PERTH, Australia

I been enjoying eveyone's photos. Pelle the first pic of your little Woodpecker is so beautiful.

I've been going to the ospreys nest nearly every day. Either Dad, Big Hook (or both) are frequently on the nest now, just standing around, preening and showing signs that the season will be starting before too long.

There are a couple of Rainbow Lorikeets that are also showing signs of wanting to occupy the nest and can be seen moving in and around the bottom part of the nest. They were there again yesterday.

One of them was jumping around on the perimeter of the nest whilst the other one remained on one of the branches. As always, they were making a racket and acting very cocky. Shortly after I snapped this photo, they took off like rockets, screeching in alarm.

... as Big Hook cruised by. She didn't land on the nest, but did a couple of passes and was gone.

Awwwwwww Pelle, that baby woodpecker is so darned cute! Love that first shot, fantastic!

Love the Lorikeets Margaret. So beautiful!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Oh pelle...that first one is tooooo cuuute! Adorable!

Mrs.Ed... I just love that robin in your pond....I wish I had one for all the robins I have this year!

Columbus, GA(Zone 8a)

Mrs_Ed - I can tell you, Robins sure know how to get the most out of a bath.

ducbucln - on the baby HOSP trying to break off a piece of the branch - maybe its teething. :-)

pelletory - like everyone said, that juvenile Hairy Woodpecker in your first pic is absolutely adorable. You reckon it is a male, what with that red on its head?

MargaretK - those Rainbow Lorikeets are so pretty, but aren't they taking their lives to the edge by fooling around with the osprey nest?
