DAILY PICS VOLUME 328

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Please enjoy all the great photos in our last thread-

Time for a new start. I counted 6 new Tree Swallow fledglings out on the power wires by our home early this morning and there are still some in two nests which the adults are trying to coax out. Needless to say, it's pretty noisy around here! This is one that looks like it will be the next to take the leap.

Out on the wires, these three fledglings were cuddled up to keep warm when mom or dad showed up with breakfast.

Better hurry, you still have to feed the other two!

I spotted this juvenile Bewicks Wren just outside our fence.

I'm so happy that all of you are enjoying all of your new babies too. This is a great time of year for all of us.

This is my first juvenile Oriole that I can't tell if it's a Bullock's or a Hooded.

Love the first shot Duc, They're all good but the detail on the first one is remarkable.

Here's a shot of my bluebirds in the nest a few minutes ago, from the deck, about 30 feet away, using the 600mm lens and a wireless remote. They are about four days old.

Thank you Duc for the great start of the new thread. Love all the juvies. Dave the BB babies are just precious! It's beautiful time of year.

Ahhh, Dave, your babies are so sweet!! I love the fuzzy heads!! I'm not brave enough to open the front on any of my houses.

Great start Duc! I agree with Dave, the first shot is remarkable!

Sweet little babies Dave!!

Great pictures of the Tree Swallow, to start this new thread. Duc, thanks your Tree Swallows are adorable.
Dave, Nice to see the babies up close, it's always a treat.

A Yellow Warbler was enjoying the goodies in my Crabapple tree on a rainy day.

It was still another gloomy day, when I found this nest of Ravens,

I would have like this to be much clearer. Had to stop the car really quick to take this picture, good thing I was driving slow to find flying objects. :) This Osprey was flying over the river, and quickly disappeared.

I forgot about the bird forum, Shame On Me!! Here is a little wren that decided to nest in my backyard. Cute little things, but quick. I got many shots of the birdhouse, but no bird. Finally, success!

For a while now, this little Cardinal has accompanied her Daddy to the feeder area. He'd perch and eat while she remained on the ground. When she'd cry, he'd come to her with a piece of safflower seed and then return to his meal. I noticed in the last couple of days that he was less quick to respond to her cries and even turned away when she'd jump in front of him, begging for a morsel. Today, her twittering from below seemed to fall on deaf ears, so she flew up to join him on the feeder. As you can see, he was all to willing to feed her there. I'm sure she'll be frequenting the feeder alone shortly, able to feed herself. I was so happy to have been an onlooker throughout the process and doubly happy to catch this precious shot.

Blue Jays decided to make a nest in our umbrella on the deck. I have mixed emotions about this. The umbrella will sail if we get stiff winds. Should I dismantle their nest so they move elsewhere?

The nest seems to be complete. If we walk out onto the deck, she becomes very still with her beak pointed in the air. This is a shot of her when she seems to think she is invisible.

I'd secure the umbrella as best I could. They won't be there too long. You don't get many opportunities to be able to watch wildlife like that.

cute bluejay nest! If it were me, I'd CAREFULLY move the whole umbrella and table to a protected area and weight it down really well. Maybe against the house or under a patio.

have fun.

ditto on the white breasted nuthatch fledge. I've never seen one at my feeders. too cute.

Wow! Just finished going through the last several threads. You folks really move!!

Wonderful photos, all. Duc, love that baby swallow shot.

Cute babies nanny! Love the Nuthatch pic!

I'm seeing at least 3 juvenile Red-bellied Woodpeckers coming in for suet by themselves. I wish I really knew how many there were, with 3 or 4 adult pairs I guess there could be as many as 8.

Melbourne, FL

My resident pair seem to chase off other Woodpeckers that come to try and feed. Even their young ones, once they are grown. Here they are mating.
