Seedling blooming in Arcata, CA

Elgin, IL(Zone 5a)

That's very cool. Orientals are blooming here, although I found an errant Amethyst Temple that's blooming. May I ask what your altitude is? We are basically at sea level.

I've got some lilium candidum Cascade Strain that I started in January 2008 that is finally getting ready to go into the ground in August. It is NALS seed that was offered bythe late Ed MacRae, so I consider myself privileged. Other than that I've always stuck with longiflorum/formosanum crosses that are immediately epigeal and bloom in fall from a January sowing. So I am beginning to understand the care and dedication that go into growing your beautiful flowers. I note that one seedling above was "crossed in Arcata". By your hands Maestro?

I have no idea but will look into your question. I live next to the ocean (Humboldt Bay), Arcata is next to Eureka, Ca. Sun Valley has a big operation here in Arcata. Open house is Aug. 1. I know I mentioned this before, Leslie Woodriff (Star Gazer, Black Beauty, etc) lived and had a business 10 miles away before his death. He worked for some years at Sun Valley - Oregon then they moved him to McKinleyville which is the next town. Met him only once. We have a lot of Redwood Trees, fog and a lot of rain in this area. I will get back to you on your other questions.
