Daily Pics Vol. 326

Stafford County, VA

Time to start a new thread. We came from here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1102634/

My first offering is a mockingbird. Not my favorite bird but some folks like them. This one has a look of frustration because he can't get inside the meal worm feeder cage.

Here he has better luck.

My bluebird fledglings are doing fine. All except one are feeding themselves. Papa is getting impatient with him. From this morning.

Sitting on the nestbox roof, trying to get Mama to feed him. Fat chance. (Excuse the daylily in the background.)

Now here's something you wouldn'r expect. I was on the deck, shoot pics of the bluebirds when this Canadian Goose came in low. I thought it was going to land on the deck. This shot from a distance of about 25 feet. Not the greatest but the camera did well, just to hold focus as he was coming straight toward me.

I'll close this set out with Papa. He is upset about something and talking about it. Notice the buldge in his throat.

And they don't always open their mouths when they chirp.

Beautiful pics dave! That must have looked weird seeing the goose coming straight at you. The fledge is adorable, glad all are doing well!
Thanks for starting the new thread!

Thank you Dave for the new thread with beautiful pictures. I like the Mocker with the berries. So fun to see Goose-landing. Nan how hot does it get there this time of year? We're 3 weeks away from official spring date. But when my poppies disappear, you know it's toasty--climatewise.

This female Mallard lost sight of her mate, she walked back and forth calling/searching for him.

Isn't she cute Pelle? Hey, I need my second cup of Java, did I 'say' spring when I meant summer? LOL. Sorry folks!

I happened on a Kingbird's nest yesterday when DH and I went to look at the Eagle nest. We saw a pair of Eastern Kingbirds, one spotted us and flew back up onto the nest among pine-cones.

Nice picture Lily!!

The mentioned Kingbird's nest. I'll try to follow the activity around the nest when we return to check on the Eagles. We didn't see the Eagle there on our trip yesterday.

This is when I need to borrow someone else camera on this particular setting. Egret took flight.

Thanks for the wonderful new start Dave. Your pictures are beautiful, especially that bb fledgling. That was quite a surprise to see the goose. Sorry about your neighbor's parrot. Hope he'll put an ad in the paper, maybe someone will respond.

Nanny, great pictures.

Lily, hope your duck finds that mate. Great photo of the kingbird. Awwwww, what a cute baby! Adorable furbabies! I agree, beautiful setting to rest and enjoy the scenery and wildlife. Love the color of that hibiscus too!

One of our Bald Eagles had a nice catch in his talons. The Crows were diving at him to leave the area of their nest.

This Bullocks Oriole showed me his worm catch and then flew into the tree to feed the little ones.
