I had thought about it a long time ago that it would be nice to be able to contribute to this site. In fact at one time there was a round of E-mails trying to raise money to help Dave get a new computer. At that time he caught wind of it and refused the help. He had plans for a way to raise the funding through a online store front. When the Store fell through I knew that as the site grew it would either need to be funded by the members or would soon become to much to handle and would simply fade away from us.
Now I have the opportunity to subscribe and help make this site work! I like that very much!!!
There will be many who choose not to subscribe for various reasons. To those who simply cannot afford to subscribe I hope arrangements can be made. To our non American friends please hang in there for the next 2 weeks and see if we can work out a viable plan to keep you here! To lose you would be to lose a lot of the flavor of this site!
To those of you who could afford to join and choose not to I wish you well and hope you will at least take part in the free aspects of the site in the future.
As for me, I feel that I am getting a chance to pay my share of the rent and frankly....It feels GREAT!
I feel better about it now!
((((((((zany)))))))
I am trying to help Zany and Lisa and to those overseas! And also trying to help those who just don't get it!
Zany very well said I think there will be lots of people come up to bat and help out. I think that anybody that wants to stay and are unable to will find more friends than they even knew they had. That's the wonderful thing about this site. Everybody jumps in to help out. I agree I feel I am getting a chance to pay back for the many hours or enjoyment this site has given me.
(((((((Haighr)))))) heck, i am in a huggy kinda mood!
haighr,
What you you mean by "those who just don't get it"?

I have e-mailed a couple members overseas to ask them if I could please pay their subscription for the year. I made sure they knew I didn't expect anything in return and that I just wanted them to continue to enjoy all of DG? If you guys think of anything else to do please count me in. There is no price (well almost) that would stop me from staying a member of davesgarden, and all of you that have posted here are one of the reasons! Thanks guys, sue
Let me know also, I'd love to be able to help out in any way!!! This is great!!! Thanks for the additional info Zany!! This is a great place, huh? So glad it's not going anyway, but gettig better!

I know of a great way to help our international members! We raid gardens of members on vacation, hold them for ransom to pay for subscriptions!
SO WHO IS ON VACATION NOW??? :) Louisa??
I'm getting so many wonderful plants from all you guys I can never go on vacation again!!!!
Tim! You little dickens you! Why didn't I think of that? When are YOU going on vacation again? I figure I could fit thousands of your little pots in my van!
Oh, ya'll - is there room for one more in your group hug? I still feel like a newbie around all you "old-timers"....hehehehe
(Pssst, Tim, that's a GREAT idea - yes, Louisa's going to be gone a while, and since she just planted stuff, it'll be real easy to dig it up :) I'll bring the truck and a tarp - we can haul a huge load off before anyone notices....)
(((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))) To all! Yes go_vols
that includes you too!
Zany,
Who would want my nutrients starved plants, all skinny from overcrowing, and lack of room for roots to grow since they are in small pots.
Terry,
I think some of her plants are in pots, haven't gone in the ground yet, that should make it easy on us!
I imagine a little tlc and those poor starving babies would be bouncing back in no time. ;)
Nice try Tim but I have seen enough Pics of your lil potted wonders to know better! Nutrient starved they are not!!! But they are very tempting to a raider at heart!
tiG
Can I just ship them to you so you can nurse them to health, and would you send them back to me? :) I had a 26-30" brug growing in a 4" pot, the trunk was about 1/2" thick, it keeps tipping over. Now it is in an 8" pot, keep getting taller, but not much bigger!
hey, need postage??? LOL!!! I do have a touch with brugs, can't figure out how that happened!!!
smilin - sry wrong grammer, meant those who haven't got it (the money) was getting a little late for me and guess I didn't make a clear point -
THX for the group hug!! It warmed up the evening, we didn't even start a fire last night lol
Oh, no problem. I just wasn't sure what you meant. :)
Zany, you're right on the mark, girlfriend!
Raid.......somebody say, Raid......I'd better get ole Snockers out of the barn...he,he, he. Hugs to all!!

You know, I was completely on board to help Dave out. I love this site! Well, before I could think twice, someone else paid for me. I love that person! Honestly, it is a tight week, but I would have made it work anyhow. I'm not really one to spend money on plants and don't do too much trading anymore, but the garden stuff is my 'luxury'. I would have felt a little guilty 'splurging' the money on my habit! LOL As it turned out, I was able to turn around and pay for someone else. I just wish I could help ten more people! Thank you to my Angel!! You are very kind.
Michele
