2010 Garden Photo's - Part 12

Albany (again), NY(Zone 5b)

wow, this thread flew.... putting together next year's wish list. Tomorrow I'll go out and take a few pictures with details on what/where, even though it's all pretty green now to introduce my garden to you.

Considering a viola fringe in front of the short lilies. I've been in awe of the clematis - for some reason, I thought they were always a vine, is that true?

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I haven't seen any that aren't vines.

That beech is a winner. Tex, some clems are short bushes, but only very few...some are short vines, others quite tall.

Thomaston, CT

Yes, my blue ones have started to bloom also.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Very nice, Bill.

There is a bush type clematis, but most are vines.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Ok, when I'm overwhelmed with a bounty of beautiful blooms I say something that encompasses everyone's pics...but tonight I have to take time

Jo Ann, your lasagna garden has taken on a life of all it's own, what a fantastic transformation. Great job!!

Patti, you are the mistress of bulbs. I imagine when you look out your bedroom window (or any window) that it takes your breath away each and every time!

Wha, isn't wine and roses a beautiful shrub? I have that one and love it. For some reason the weigelias seem to bent almost to the ground with their burden of blooms this year.

WC, I too put the pruning class on the clem tags, funny thing....I don't need any tags to identify the name of the clem. I have them all on the tip of my tongue. I guess clems are my one true love.

For those with clems that can't remember the pruning, give me a minute..I'll be back

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Pretty simple. 1 - leave it. 2 - prune back to the first set of new buds. 3 - prune down to a few inches.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Here's what I went to get...like a nursery rhyme

One, for the pruners, means no, nada, none
Two, for the pruners, means only cut some
Three, for the pruners, means lots to be done

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Bill, how long have you had the beech and how is it doing? I almost bought one a couple years ago.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Just beautiful Bill!!

Weeze, I like that!!

Maine, United States(Zone 5b)

That beech is very cool! I bought a houseplant/ outdoor annual that has splashes of hot pink like that...I want to use it in some containers.

GE, what a difference a year makes, indeed! That looks wonderful.

Here's a long shot from today. I moved my houseplant Begonia back outside....I love that thing!

Very cool looking beech.
I'll remember that now, Weeze.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

deb i have had the beech for 5 or 6 years maybe more - it was pretty tall when i got it at hd no less - i do not have it planted in the best location - full sun all day - so it burns some in the summer - it is supposed to have morning sun afternoon shade - here jm's come first for those conditions:)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hate to say this, but that beech always reminded me of a burn victim.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

then do not say it

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Don't take it personally, Bill. I mean all of them - not just yours.

Aside from the brown marks, you can see the yellow bleaching out.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)
