Great additions and variety everyone. Hah, Bobolinks, that's a cute name and interesting looking pair Marna. Duc, do those Pied Billed Grebe travel this far South? I'd like to see some. Susan, LOL about that male House Finch taken a quick nap. Burd, what bright and colorful of that male Scarlet Tanager! wowser! Red, adorable BB babies, I hope you will find the other 3 when it stops raining.

DH and I went back to the bridge where the Cliff Swallows were building their 'condos'. And yes there are housing project that was completed, but new ones are also being built too.

Burd, Congratulations on the Kirtland's Warbler!!! Great shots! Please don't forget Bird Files. :-)

Lily, Sweet Cliff Swallows!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Hah, Burd, I like that new term; Getting froggy. ^_^. Your Kirtland's Warbler is very attractive. Red is the size of the Western Kingbird roughly the same as Eastern ones? I love that yellow feather on its belly. Cute as a button little bird!

Scott Bar, CA(Zone 6a)

Lovely pics of the Tanager Burd----

I've always heard that when one gets "froggy" they've gotta jump! :-)

Will do on the bird files Pelle, may get to that tonight.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Oh Bill, thanks for making the Froggy connection for me!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Thanks too Bill from me. It's now clear to me too.

Norman, OK

Lily, the Eastern and Western Kingbirds are about the same size. Fifteen-inch wingspans and weigh about 40 g. We have both here. The Easterns are usually found near timber and the Westerns like open spaces. The eco-region here is known as the Crosstimbers. It's an area of dense Blackjack oaks which separate the eastern woodlands from the prairie. It provides a lot of biological diversity in flora and fauna. I would guess you see the Eastern Kingbirds.

I haven't taken any Scissor-tail pics this spring although I have a pair on the field behind the house.

The two female and one male Lazuli Buntings are still here. They were here last year, but only for a few days. I am really a little out of their range. Pic of the male.

I love those Lazuli Buntings!

Norman, OK

The photos don't do the Lazulis justice. Light has been so poor for days it's difficult to get decent pics. They are beautiful little birds. Three have been out on this feed almost constantly for the past few days.

Here is a Cooper's Hawk from yesterday. Close as I could get.

Wonderful photos everyone!!

Burd, congrats on the warbler!! Love the tanager!

Red, you'll have to share what you said to the cat. We have two neighbor cats that prefer hunting outside our fence and this morning I found feathers-again!

Lily, looks like you'll be seeing lots more swallows in the future. And, yes, the Pied-billed Grebes are in your area year round-hope you see these sweet ducks.

Here's one of my Mourning Doves.

Burd, that tanager is surely a gorgeous bird. Thanks for going out of your way, to get those great photos of birds we don't get to see.
Red, must of been great to see those babies BB on your patio. I would so like to take the credit for Burd beautiful Tanager, but I will have to give it back, to the king of Warbers. ;) You have a great pic of one too.
Lily,, with all the Swallows building nest and raising families, you won't have any mosquitoes left. Love your Heron.
Duc, lovely shot of the B Swallow.

I don't have very many of these Chipping Sparrows, as the other years

Of course, House Finches were everywhere. Here's a male. He's a little blurred, I think I moved a tad as I snapped the pic. Probably ought to have used the tripod.

I was too far away to get a very good shot. This Northern Flicker has gotten used to me and doesn't get too skittish anymore.
