Lily, the Eastern and Western Kingbirds are about the same size. Fifteen-inch wingspans and weigh about 40 g. We have both here. The Easterns are usually found near timber and the Westerns like open spaces. The eco-region here is known as the Crosstimbers. It's an area of dense Blackjack oaks which separate the eastern woodlands from the prairie. It provides a lot of biological diversity in flora and fauna. I would guess you see the Eastern Kingbirds.

I haven't taken any Scissor-tail pics this spring although I have a pair on the field behind the house.
