Gardening Myths B1, Superthrive and others...

I have been following these posts about using Maxicrop for starting seeds. I ordered liquid fish instead of Seaweed. Does anyone know if they are similar in use or should I get some Liquid seaweed. I was so mad at myself for doing this!! Thanks.

Fish emulsion is a good organic source of nitrogen (as well as having some P & K), while seaweed/kelp isn't a great source of N,P,K but has a lot of micronutrients. So they're both perfectly fine for plants (and are often used together, or combined together into one product), but I wouldn't view them as interchangeable. Here's a reference that tells you what nutrients are provided by a range of organic fertilizers: http://cmg.colostate.edu/gardennotes/234.pdf

Thanks ecrane3 for the info. on Seaweed vs Fish Emulsion. Guess I need to get some Seaweed too. I know that our local nursery has it but it is not Maxicrop brand. I wonder if there is a lot of difference in brands.

Also, thanks for sending the reference nutrients site. Very good information in one place.

Thrive can be used to regulate flowering in certain species. I havn't done any studies but the super turgor it provides to cuttings seems like a good thing. I do have a problem with my plants rooting slowly because they're growing without roots. Guess i;m going to have to read the warnings.

Hey, mine are too. How come? I have them in the bubbler and they are getting top growth and no roots!!

For anyone desperately seeking Messenger, It's renamed Axiom and sold by Arbico organics. Also found it on Amazon. https://www.arbico-organics.com/product/axiom-growth-stimulant/organic-soil-conditioners

Messenger is now Axiom, I believe. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BY9QFSC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I used it an was stunned by what it did for all my plants. It is a natural plant protein, so not a chemical. Basically, it stimulates the plant's natural immune system to fight bacteria, fungus, pests. I got about 30% bigger yields in vegetable garden and none of my fruit trees needed spraying. That was a huge win for me. They actually had my letter to the company on the website LOL I should have bought the company.....
