WHAT IS IN FULL COLOR NOW-MAY 1-15

(Sharon)SouthPrairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Julie is still way behind in her world and I have just a bit more free time than her, so her is the new thread.

My flowering cherry (Whitcombi?) and my Hino Crimson azalea are at their peak. This seems a week or so early as I usually get this display as a Mother's Day treat. (Can't seem to get a picture without at least one dog included!)

We will still be posting to the old thread (April 15-30)

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1088561/

as we have taken pictures but no time to post just yet.

Well... it's not quite in full color, but well on its way...

Gorgeous!

Thanks! I forgot my coral bells- not real exciting, but I like them... and so do the hummingbirds. :)

I love that red azalea, Sharon.

Someone wanted to see bergenia, here's mine. Not the usual pink with light green flowers. This was taken a week ago. It is in full bloom now.

This little pink-violet violet is in full bloom in the courtyard.

Ooh- love the color of that bergenia- and the columbine is sooo pretty! :)

My wisteria is in full bloom. This picture is taken from the gate to my backyard standing underneath the wisteria. The smell is heavenly.

Forgive me if I got a bit arty with this one - I was having fun with an online collage maker. A few of my heucheras are in full bloom - the ones that have the most traditional 'coral bell' like flowers. The new purple shoots and the rosy blooms combined with a Lime Rickey heuchera and Japanese forest grass is giving me my most treasured of color combinations (the love of which I believe I share with Summerkid) - chartreuse and magenta.

Wow, beautiful Kymmco!! :) I love the color.... what variety is it?

Redmond, WA

Heheh... wisteria... that is... ;)

You know what, I haven't the faintest. It came with the house, and I believe it is very old. The trunk on that thing is massive. The color in that picture is probably a bit deceiving, as it's taken from underneath so it's a little darker than when the sun is hitting it.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

It's me!! Chartreuse and magenta is my fav. Lovely picture, Kim. But the Wisteria steals the day - is that blue?

Seattle, WA

Here's another shot of the Wisteria from more of a distance. You can see the flowers look a much paler blue/lilac color from this vantage point.

Aw, but it is still a gorgeous bluish color... :) When I get my wisteria I'm going to look for one like that.... :)

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

That wisteria is just too beautiful. *covet*

Seattle, WA

Yeah, it's pretty darn gorgeous right now. I have to hold this image in my head while I'm repeatedly trimming away the suckers it sends all over the west side of my yeard...

And I'm sorry Katie for not properly acknowledging you as my fellow chartreuse and magenta lover. I remember now!

As for the pic, I certainly don't plant ajuga for the blooms - I really just think about its foliage. But dang it's pretty in flower.

Nice Wisteria, Kymmco & such a lovely blue-violet. Do you frequently venture out to inhale? =:0)

Heh heh heh - I finally whacked my wisteria - HARD! it so needed it, and a co-worker helped me. She did very well - attacked it nicely, while I whacked with a vengeance. I shall not post any pictures of it as that would cause it embarrassment, and it has no paw to lick like a cat. It does NOT look like this any longer:

How very discreet of you Katye, I'm sure your Wisteria will appreciate that you only posted pictures of it in its full glory.

Few more pics to go before I knock off for the night. My creeping phlox are in full bloom - these two are planted next to eachother with angelina sedum in between. It's bright!!

This is in full bloom... whatever this is. Does anyone know? I threw a mix of wildflower seeds (the Beneficial Bugs mix from Territorial Seeds) in this bed last spring and this appears to have wintered over quite well.

Beautiful Kym. That is a beautiful wisteria. I had one over my arbor but DH made me remove it. It was also very beautiful.

Love the white one too. REally pretty.

Kym, you paint a pretty picture with that orange and lavender.

Elegant Lady tulips

And I know it really doesn't count, because it's certainly not in full bloom. But I can't resist...

My first rose of the season! It's the David Austin rose 'Mayflower', living up to its name.

Phew, done now. Guess it had been awhile since I updated the Beacon Hill bloom record.

Kymmco, the orange plant is Erysimum (used to be Cheiranthus, aka Wallflower).
My Elegant Ladies were cut before the storm & gracing the kitchen with their presence. Not too much of the rosse streaking this year - last year there was much more...
You certainly are well ahead of my area...
I don't know if you like a saturated purple with orange, but Amethyst Dream Centaurea looks very nice with that Erysimum. ( well, to me it does)

Oohhhh that would be gorgeous. You know what, I actually have a Centaurea planted near the (what I now know to be) Erysimum. Only a) it's not in bloom yet and b) it's the regular blue one not the stunning amethyst cultivar you have. I think from my pictures you can tell I like saturated color - and lot's of it! I'll definitely hunt up that Amethyst Dream, and thanks for the plant identification.

Weird about the Elegant Lady - do you think it's because it's been so cool this year during their blooming period? Mine have very little rose streaking either.

I like the centuarea, too.. Is it rampant seeder like the regular type? I have one with chartreuse leaves and cornflower blue flowers called 'gold bullion'. It's supposed to spread, but it only marginally survived last year. This year it looks much better.

Here's a photo of my front area with Crabapple 'prairie fire' in full bloom. It's my favorite time of year when the sun starts setting that far west so the light shines through that area. Wish it were warmer. I know I'm not alone in that.

I think this old rhody is 'Vulcan'.

The Viburnum davidii, overused but still a glorious shrub. It plays well with the lilacs.

Guess I'll post this here. I went to Lakewold Gardens yesterday to the garden shop and she has a couple of trays of stuff from Mt. Tahoma that didn't sell in the early spring. Looks to be Hepatica triloba and Anemonella thalictroides of some kind. That's going by memory. She sells these on consignment and returns them if they don't sell. So what I did't think to ask is whether she marks them down rather than return them. Last year I bought some huge shrubs from her for 5$ because they didn't move and she didn't want to return them. So if you are interested, you could call. I can get stuff for anyone who wants them and hold them at my house.

Delicate little Kerria japonica 'variegata'. Smaller than the regular kind. Lakewold has this in gallon sized pots.

The threatened lilac on the left and Mexican orange, which you can barely see because of the lighting, on the right. Stand between them and become intoxicated.

Not really a bloom, but I wanted you to see the huge leaves on this rhubarb. During the windstorm they were dancing and waving around to beat the band. These are some tough leaves. You can't even tell they were in a storm!

Thumbnail by

The yellow rhodies are blooming now. We wait all year for this. Way in the back you can barely tell the exbury azalea is blooming. Some might recall I struggled last year with a decision to remove red rhodies from that bed. I finally bit the bullet and did it. I'm very glad!

PIxie your garden is amazing. Love that little kerria. And everything else.

Hey, Pix, do you happen to have her number handy?

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

and do tell about how your roof tile raised bed has turned out!

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Oh - I saw it when I was there in April. Those things are pretty sturdy . . . she's now put a beautiful tall urn/vase/pot in the center. Great idea!

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

I have lots of blooms on my wisteria for the first time. I had two ity bity ones last year. Three years of waiting..Yeah!
