Yikes! Please don't send the box to me this weekend! I will not be home to open it!
Tamberlin
Round Robin Box on its Way!
i don't think it was to you, i believe it went to michigan. I just can't find her name, with the names we have here on daves, they are different than the real names.
bonnie
If I'm guessing right it's wiggiej that is the Jan in Michigan that MrsBonnie sent the box to. She should get it soon and then she will send it to me and I will be here this weekend or early next week so no problems with that. Tamberlin will come after me so maybe be the mid or end of next week I imagine so no worries if you're not home this weekend, Tamberlin.
Yup ... that's me! I got the box this afternoon and am going through it as we speak. Lots of interesting things to choose from. Thls is not going to be easy.
Tamberlin, no need to worry As I said, "I will definitely send the box to Chicago when I get it" .
Jan (wiggiej)
Oooh I am so excited you got it already that means it's close to coming here! I have so many young plants I need to give away lol that I'm more excited about the box coming so I can add stuff than me taking away!
Gee Ladies! I'm away a few days and it goes crazy here!
(And thanks mrsbonnie for keeping a watch on our robin while I was without internet!)
I double checked the card order before I put them in the box, but it could just as easily have been me who got them mixed up. No blame to anyone...just a little more excitement. As long as the box travels, we can make changes, no harm done!
I also think everyone was being too kind to not take out too many goodies for themselves. You all need to be more selfish in the next round robin and take more out. I tried to explain that the plant material will expire quickly. It's like use it or loose it.
tish
Hi Tish;
Oh, so glad your back, i made a booboo, i think, should have gone to connie first, oh well, it's on it's way to her now.thank goodness, lol It's true, the plant material does not last all that long. The reason i did not take that much is, i had most of what was i there already, but maybe next time i can get more.Anyway hope your trip was a good one.
Mrsbonnie
I SO hope to join the one in the fall. I'm trying left and right to make as many babies as I can. I'm slowly moving the darn tomatoes off the light shelf to propagate. Today is a rainy day so you can imagine I'm going to stick as many leaves as I can :) By fall I should have enough to play with you all. You are all making it sound like so much fun :)
Love checking in to see what everyone got.
Kim
I had a wonderful time. Visit with my dad and some other family. It was hot there though! Unusual for early June.
I love different and unusual gesneriads too. There are so many but only a few people grow them. So a great way to come across a "find" is to participate in Round Robins or trade boxes. I also grow a lot of different gessies as well and every now and then a trade box will be super good, with lots of things I didn't have and other times only one or two. But I also get to Share my unusual or slightly different gessies with others, so thats a fun reason to participate in Round Robins too.
All in all ...this box is moving really fast. Much faster than I ever expected. Everyone has done a really great job. I think the last one I was in it took from Sept thru Dec...yes, dec....you know THAT was a problem for plant material!
tish
Hi Jan. Please let me know when you ship the box to me since it's coming to my DH's work and I have to tell him to look for it or it will sit in his office and everything will die, lol.
Hi All--
Just a quick note to let you know the box is on it's way to Chicago. I will post details later when I am home.
--Jan
Hi All,
As I mentioned, the box is off to Chicago this am. It was tough choice, but I wound up keeping
Sinningia 'Fuchsia Treasure'
Episcia 'Prelude'
Aeschynantus 'Black Pagoda'
Streptocarpus 'Salmon Sunset' leaf
Chirita 'Betty' leaf
AV 'Rob's Tippy Toe' 2 leaves
AV 'Cherokee Trail' leaf
Primulina leaf
I had planned to stop here but also wound up keeping Streptocarpella 'New Horizon'. It was a kind of dry and had fainted when it arrived. I gave it some water and had it out getting some air over the weekend, but I really didn't think it'd do so well taking another ride in a dark box. As it is, it'll bounce back nicely and be a gorgeous little guy in a few weeks. Otherwise there were some leaves etc that hadn't done so well when they arrived and a few more I took out this morning. But, I restocked the leaf offering pretty well and added some other plants, cuttings and a few other odds and ends. The box was pretty well stuffed when it went out, so there should still be plenty of fun items to choose from.
Anna, sorry to make you worry, but this was the best I could do on short notice over a weekend.
Tish, thanks so much for putting this together -- what a great way to have some fun for just a couple $$. Also thanks to all the generous folks ahead of me that contributed all the interesting plants/cuttings -- you guys are great!
Best wishes,
Jan
Just one question, I have an abundebence of seeds and other plants that are not av's but can they be added just to share?
thanks,
Marie

I'm sorry I made it sound like I was worried 'cus I really wasn't more just wondering. It sounds like you did a wonderful job and it will be a great box when it gets here.
I agree with Jan about how great it is that Tish put this together. It is a wonderful thing indeed.
In case anyone was wondering I haven't gotten the box yet. I talked hubby into going into work on Saturday in case it's delivered then but I may not have it until Monday. If that's the case since it's been hot here in our area it may be that most of what gets here is mush. I don't have a lot to restock it fully like many of you do but I'll do my best.
It still needs to go to Tamberlin then lljjz, then back to Tish.
Anna,
I realize that you are frustrated that you didn't get the goodies you expected last week and that the box came to me first. As it was, I was a caught somewhat off guard as well. I would imagine just about all of us were more excited than we care to admit when we heard the box was coming our way (probably a bit like little kids waiting for their Christmas presents). So it is somewhat understandable that you might be frustrated that you don't have it yet. I know I am!
What puzzles me is why you've chosen to complain, first to Tish this morning and now to everyone on a public forum, but not directly to me at any point. The box was sent Tuesday by Priority Mail and was scheduled for delivery Thursday. Obviously, traveling a few hundred miles from Ann Arbor to Chicago, it should have been there.
If I'd known there was a problem last night, I could have checked the tracking number and problem solved. As it is, I didn't hear a thing about this until the middle of this afternoon when I was already at work and heading to the airport in a few hours. I am not at home but the tracking receipt is and unfortunately, my husband (being a male) "can't find it"! So there's not a lot I can do for you tonight. I will call the local post office tomorrow, and let you know (by personal d-mail) what the story is. I (like everyone else) put a lot of nice stuff into that box, and I wouldn't want it to "turn to mush" any more than the next gal.
In the meantime, if you could keep the negative advertising down to a dull roar, that'd be helpful -- I am the new guy here and people don't know me that well.
Jan
Good news - the post office did pretty good and the box is here and I just picked it up and am going through it now - more later.
The box was a very good shape and there was a wonderful assortment to choose from so thanks to everyone for all their efforts. Jan packed it nicely.
I happily kept:
AV Misty Miss
AV Taffeta Pink (can't find this - maybe Taffeta Petticoat which is pink?)
AV Rob's Cotton Ball
AV Sky and Snow
Strep Moonlit Velvet
A plant that I think is a begonia - Black Velvet? I didn't think it would make another round but I don't know anything about begonias so if anyone has info please let me know.
I don't have any other gessies than AVs so that's all I added - both plants and leaves.
Oh I forgot to say that I sent it today (Saturday) to Tambelin and the delivery confirmation number is 9405 5036 9930 0259 7091 97. Hopefully it will be there Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest.

Thank you Lynn. It didn't say about light but I think begonia are low light so I won't put it by a window but on a mantel that doesn't get any direct light.
They grow well under lights or in a brightly lit spot.Just keep them away from direct hot sun.For instance the east morning sun is fine, but the afternoon south and west is too hot unless they are placed back from the window or it has a sheer curtain.
Hi there! The box arrived today and was sent on its way within the hour. A few leaves did not make the trip, but most were in good shape. I filled it up and sent it off right away so they would survive, hopefully.
I kept:
"Hawaiian Pearl" plant
Nemathanthus Black Magic
Clio Polish Strep (appropriate, as I'm 1/2 Polish!)
Nematanthus "Christmas Holly"
Tiny Pink Bells -
Boley Brian?
and what I think is a begonia stem. Lost most of it's dirt so I repotted, watered and am hoping for the best.
I would LOVE any info about the plants above since I don't really know what they are other than the strep.
The tracking number is USPS Priority mail 030911400002228798. It should be there by Wed. said my Post Office dude.
:)
Deb
i think the one plant is baby brian, a semi mini trailer violet.tiny pink bells is also a mini violet.
mrsbonnie
Is it going to me in oregon?
Yes Maam! It's on it's way!
yay!!!!!!!!!
oops - that's the delivery confirmation number - I don't know if you can track via it as well...
no problem it will get here!
Oh yay, I got it! I havent had time to look through it completely but will do so now! Thanks guys for taking the time to send such a nice box full!!!
Marie
Heres the tracking number for ups.com 1Z63601X0295003416
Thanks! Looking forward to see what goodies I get. I had to wait the longest you know! Its been fun reading what everyone kept. Don't thank me...it took each one of you to add and move the box on - so thanks for everyone.
Marie - you need to post what you took out of the box. We are all waiting to hear!
tish
yes , let us know what goodies you got. lol
mrsbonnie
So, has the box made it back to it's final destination?
No...not yet. Maybe today. Hope today anyway, ha. I'll post this evening if it comes this afternoon.
tish
The box arrived ups late this afternoon. Not the box that started usps, but I didn't think it would make the trip thru to everyone anyway. (the postal service is not that kind to boxes) If it did, I was going to post a pic of the box, ha.
There were quite a few strep and violet leaves, some may make it, many were turning brown, so I'll give them a chance and let you know what makes it. There were a few different kinds of succulents and cactus cuttings, a couple were already rooting in the bags! which is always neat. Nem black magic cutting...I didn't have that one. A philadendron cutting. 3 starts that might be iris. And a banana plant root...some of the sprout had broken off, I'm hoping it will send out another one and still grow.
It was fun ladies and gent ! The newbies are not new to rr anymore. (I hope everyone remembered to isolate all new plant material!) Maybe someone will want to start another box in the fall.
Take care all ! tish
Thanks Tish for putting everything together, my first experience was great and I had so much fun! I'm afraid in terms of gesneriads you contributed more than actually received... So may I suggest? lets post our new plants pics when established and if you like anything I'll be happy to share. Meanwhile happy growing season to all the gessies, new and old
Maria
That's a great idea Maria! I will post pics when things grow out as well.
Jan
thanks tish for all the work you did, really appreciate it.
mrsbonnie
Very welcome. I'm just fine with what I received...I knew there would not be many gessie growers, and that was okay. I enjoyed starting the box and like Mrsbonnie...I already grow so many plants, I didn't need a lot more. I was a little worried there might be too much in the box, so things worked out just fine. Really. Its so nice of you to offer though. I think posting pics is a great idea.
And hey, I remind you...you all did the work too! thanks for participating!
tish
All is well if all ends well.
Tish you did a fine job as only you could do.
I thank you too for helping me out with plants. Special.
Anna thank you again. Plants are doing well.
Helene
