Good Morning Bonnie!
OHHHH those are SO pretty! LOVE the Party Hat (of course *lol*).
Your plants always look so happy Bonnie!
I will try to get a picture of a few NOIDS from Lowe's yesterday that I purchased for my mother in law for Mother's Day next weekend.
Ladies keep those pictures coming :)
Kim
Love the pictures Bonnie!! I have a few babies I need to get pictures of.
Wow Mrs Bonnie. You really grow those streps gorgeously. I haven't killed mine yet but I sure don't have blooms. I only hope I can learn how to grow them as well as you do.
Hi There;
Actually the pictures i just posted are streps from a show we had over the weekend, All the pictures are from a new hybridizer, Sherry Burchett. These are just a few of her new plants.I wil be posting them on ebay as we want to get her name out there as she has some real beauties.
mrsbonnie
You must know her the way you speak about her. They surely are gorgeous.
yes i do know her & she is really a sweet person.
bonnie
wow, what a beauty, i don't recall ever seeing this one before, almost looks like kalanachoe, think thats how it's spelled. Sure is a pretty thing. Can you get it anywhere?
Mrsbonnie
Hi SilverTigris, beautiful bloom. I had one many years ago, I believe it is Ornithogalum Dubium, grows from a bulb.
IT is Ornithogalum Dubium Eucharis05 :)
mrsbonnie,
I believe my Dad picked that beauty up at a local store possibly Publix, Sam's, Target,or Wal-Mart but I'm not sure . However, I'll be sure to ask the next time I speak to him. The only other thing I can tell you about where it originated is that the label on the bottom of the wrapping says that it came from Nurserymen's Exchange Inc. Halfmoon Bay, CA - http://www.bloomrite.com/products/blooming/sun-star
Also, it is a perennial and is a member of the Hyacinthaceae family and it is faintly fragrant . Here is the plant file - http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/54047/
As for where you can purchase that beauty, I would also check with one of your local nurseries as they might have it available. Another thing I just found out is that they come in 3 basic colors the Reddish Orange, Orange , Yellow, and they also come in White but it is very Rare to find them in White.
I think that with your being in Illinois (if the location information under your name is correct) that that beauty would do very well outside in a garden, or you can always keep it potted and indoors to enjoy more often ;)
Either way, I hope that the above information helps :)
Katie
Hi Katie;
Thanks so much for the info, sure is a beauty, i will be on the lookout for it.
Mrsbonnie
Hey mrsbonnie,
I spoke with my Dad and he said he picked up that beauty at Publix, which I think the closest Publix to you would be in Tennessee about 50 miles north of Nashville :(
Katie
hey, thanks for that info, but publix is a little ways from me, i will look elsewhere.lol
mrsbonnie

mrsbonnie
you're welcome and I completely understand.
Katie
Melanie and Katie,
They are certainly unusual and very pretty!!
Lynn
Hey Melanie;
How nice. hopefully i will find one. lol
mrsbonnie
Congrats on your beauty Melanie from what I've read they are a very easy bulb to grow and you should be able to get at least a couple years or more of enjoyment out of it :)
If you are interested in keeping your Orange Star/Star-Of-Bethlehem, Sun Star, Snake Plant growing and would like to collect daugher bulbs from it. I found this website that has some good information on Orange Star's Growth and how different temperatures affect the flowering of the plant, length of the flowering stems, as well as some other information - http://www.actahort.org/books/570/570_11.htm
this link is only an Abstract of the full text, and the Acta Horticulturae site wants a payment of at least 60 Euros for a 1 year individual membership in order to be able to see the full text. Student Memberships are 1/2 the individual. You can also purchase credits toward articles at 16 EUR or $18 USD per document.
Needless to say, I think I'll keep looking until I find a site that will have more information for not near the price asked of the Acta Hort. site. I must say thought, the information that is visible on the site should at least help some :)
Lynn,
They are definitely beautiful. It also amazes me how many "common" names that plant has - Star-of-Bethlehem, Sun Star, Yellow Chincherinchee, Snake Plant, Orange Star, and I'm sure there are others I have not see yet as well.
I just saw the orange thingee at Home Depot in Chicago! So Mrs Bonnie maybe it's at a Home Depot by you too.
Thanks Lynn! It's such an interesting little guy!
will check my home depot. thanks
mrsbonnie
