Watch this thread?

When I click on "watch this thread" to either watch or no longer watch, I just get a blank window that pops up - I can't tell if I'm watching or not. I just noticed it for the first time yesterday (8/30).

Cindy, I see the problem :) You are a month behind all us. lol You stated you noticed it yesterday(8/30) when in fact it was 9/30. hehehe

You're right! LOL Maybe I ought to check for blank windows in my head. Well anyway, I'm still getting those blank windows, whenever they started.

The "Watch this thread" is actually written in JavaScript. It's the only feature of DG that was written with this language.

On my TODO is to re-write this in PHP so it works exactly like the rest of the site. That will fix your problem, of course.

I just wondered if anyone else is having the same problem - I haven't seen any other posts about it and wonder if it's a problem on my end? I still get the blank windows and cannot watch/unwatch. It's not a major thing, I guess I'm just spoiled by being used to using it. :)

Cindy - what browser do you use? And what version of it? I think IE 6 lacks support of Java if it's a fresh installation (not an upgrade from IE 5.5 or lower). Could that be the problem if this pop-up is the only Java app on the site?

I use netscape 4.75. Everything worked fine until one day, all of a sudden, it didn't work anymore. We haven't made any changes that I know of.

Ok, I just uploaded the code to change this... I made some other forum modifications while I was in there.

Every thread now has a nifty bar at the top that has various information and options for that thread. One of those options is to "Watch this thread". Clicking it will do the same thing as the old ugly "watch this thread" button that we've had since last October.

Does it work for you?
