Fantastic photos. Love that flycatcher and the bunting. Great closeup shot of the heron-they're all wonderful photos.

I know what you mean about the heat. We have really dry heat during the summer and our birds hide before 10 a.m.

I'm looking forward to seeing your hawk photos.

Going to start off summer at the marsh by using more of this thread as the heat dictate's my visits. It was very nice today with less humidity. Have quite a few and have put them in sets.

At the beach section of the marsh there is always the same two bird's trying to catch fish...a Great Blue Heron and a Great Egret. I,m pretty sure its the same one's I see every time. This next set is of the Great Blue Heron.

he was chilling out on the beach then took off...I had the T1i set decent this time and snapped away...

he started stretching out his neck because he spotted something...

now I missed the shot but he dropped straight into the water...I was surprised because the water is about 5ft deep there..

he was floating...never seen that before...then with a kick of the leg's...

got high enough to catch the air with his wings for a liftoff..

the large fish is a fresh water Drum...

nearly there...

no problem for a pro..

on to a private dinner for one...last of the Great Blue Heron set.

Awesome pictures! Years ago, I was up your way - headed to Put-in-Bay, and I saw cormorants. Neat looking birds. I'm south of Akron and I'm envious that you get to see those water birds.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments! Took another trip today but with the heat I didn't think I would get too much other than the Heron's and Egrets but got a lil surprise as there were 3 Belted Kingfisher's chasing each other around and hunting by the beach. These are my best shots so far of the BKF...but I will tell you that I had a very hard time trying to keep the focus on these guys, it seemed impossible at times but I did get some clear shots of them and some other birds at the marsh.
