My Morning Glories (Spring 2010)

Melbourne, FL

I decided to start my own thread to post my MG pics. Some of these are from seeds given to me by members here. I don't keep track of names, I'll just be posting pics for you to enjoy.

omg! those are awesome! Almost need my sunglasses on for the blues lol Fabulous!
I've never had morning glories, but my neighbor friend has some baby plants from seed I may try. Thanks for sharing

gardenpom - Whoo hoo! Look at all those blooms! You are off and running with the MGs! Beautiful! I don't remember what I sent you ... lol ... so the pink blooming I. nil could be from one of my seeds, but I don't know for sure... It's a beauty regardless of where you got it! I love your pink and purple together too! Very pretty all of them!

Gorgeous blooms gardenpom, really ejoying seeing them!

Most of the last ones I started were from your last batch of seeds you sent, and they are the ones I put on these certain trellises. The original plants I put out by the veggie garden failed due to the cold weather, so with the exception of a few late ones I started from seed, those are mostly volunteers from last year. They are slow this spring, I think, but there are lots of buds coming now.

Thanks Helena. I'll keep posting them as long as they keep blooming. One of the things I look forward to each morning is seeing what might be open. Always sad when nothing is blooming.

I can totally relate your last statement, gardenpom. It is VERY disappointing when nothing is blooming in the morning. Which I think is why I plant so many different kinds of plants. I need my flower fix every morning before work! LOL!

gardenpom - Do you want more seeds? I gave away a lot of seed packs, but I still have some mixed I. nil MG seed packs left. Let me know.

Melbourne, FL

No thanks, Becky. I appreciate it, but I have lots. Seeds to me are like shoes are to other women. I have a small case full of flower seeds, mostly dime store stuff. I find those pretty packets almost as tempting as candy, maybe more so. I used to feel the same way about nail polish....back when I had nice nails. Long time ago.

WOW!!! You got it going on, gardenpom! Love all your blooms!

I really like this one ... kind of a splotched pattern. Very unusual and pretty!

Just happened to notice this Morning Glory blooming at the local Zoo during my visit on Wend.

Last one ,so beautiful !

I agree with Dany! Very pretty little bloom in that last photo!

The wild MG growing at the zoo looks like Ipomoea cairica which also goes by the common name of Messina Creeper: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/53527/

Thanks for the info, Becky. There is another very beautiful bloom this morning on the one plant as in the last pic above. I'll take a few pics before work and post tonight.

oh my goodness what beautiful blooms you have, are you ever late to work? I hate leaving my blooms when they are going. I really like the Macros shots you take. Gorgeous! Please keep them coming!

No, Debra....I have never been late to work....but I have also missed out on seeing some nice blooms having to leave before they open all the way.

White with tiny flecks.

That last one looks a jaimie lynn that crossed with a shibouri! LOL ( like I know anything about crosses)
they are so beautiful and opalescent.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Wow! Some pretty cool blooms ya got going on there, Teresa!

The white with the tiny flecks is probably a pink flaked I. purpurea. I get blooms like that from that cultivar of I. purpurea. And then some Pink Flaked will have the bold pink stripes on the blooms. Very, very nice collection of vines you have growing currently! I love the purple one especially! :-)

Melbourne, FL

You are right about that, Becky. Here is another one from that vine. I also had the earlier one that was all white.

LOL! Oops, my bad! It was the "Purple" Flaked I. purpurea, not the pink one. LOL! That's one of the things I love about the "flaked" vines, they produce all kinds of different looking blooms! :-)

Melbourne, FL

I didn't catch the "pink" comment either. I assumed you meant "purple"....I thought it was a wonderful white variety till the small flecks starting showing up. I love the variety these produce too.
