Congrats Rose on the to-be Fledglings BBs. The Yellow Headed Blackbird is wow, unusual. This maybe 2nd time I saw pics. of them on our forum. Cool.

Elphaba, Sorry you had to witness that. I've been aware for some time that Grackles can be predatory but I'm glad not to have seen it.

Rose, SO good to see you! That Yellow-headed Blackbird is Gorgeous!!! The Bluebirds are looking great and I can't wait to see the fledges!

Most of the Goldfinch in this area are the Lesser Goldfinch, but once in awhile an American Golfdfinch such as this one drops in.

Enjoyed that Yellow-headed BB, del. I don't see them often, but usually in western OK or TX. Didn't know they were in MO.

Saw my FOS Snowy Egret this week.

Oh rose your YHB is sooo pretty, would to see that guy! Gosh can't believe your BB babies will fledge already. Where did the time go??

Rose, I'm so jealous of your Yellow-headed! I've never seen one here that wasn't buried deep in the tulies. We always describe their songs as a squeaky door hinge. I'm going to be listening for your version. Looking forward to seeing the little ones. Your parents are both just beautiful.

Our new birdhouses are working well for the Tree Swallows. The House Sparrows are staying at the older houses and leaving the swallows alone-finally!

I chased away the grackles all morning. My boy dog Wilson thought it was great fun. He's happy to chase grackles any time I lose my mind again. Finally, I put away their favorite feeder. Still coming to the pond though. Here's one of them now.

This little wren was singing his heart out until I started taking pictures of him.

This female Summer Tanager really wanted a bath, but she was just too timid to come all the way down. Guess the crazy lady chasing grackles all morning made her wary.

I thought this was a female Hooded Warbler, but the line around the head is pretty dark. Maybe it's a young male.

Hi everyone! I have had a really busy three days at work, but now I am off for the next eight days! All the beautiful photos, but I am too far behind to try to comment on each person... I'm sorry! The are all so great!

I have been anxious to work out my new lens some more, and I will now that I am off! But I wanted to share some photos my hubby took with my camera and the new lens on Tuesday! I have dragged him kicking and screaming into bird watching, but look what he can do! I am proud of him, but also a little jealous too! Well done honey!

Nice shots everyone!! Palmer that is a great set! Ive never witnessed an Osprey or an Eagle actually catching a fish.

Bought a new birdbath hoping the birds would like it better than the one I slapped together...they do. lol

Terrific addition Pelle, the great egret is so dramatic with its eye's makeup. Wowser! Wild Rose, wonderful series, what talent Palmer has! It must be so exciting to watch those many Ospreys in one spot, let alone to add the Eagle in the mix! Thank you for sharing the wonderful experience. I'll need to refill the bird feeders out there. Back soon with some pics. at the Eagle nest we visited yesterday.

Hard to tell, it looks like a pretty thick bill. Might be a House Finch but not 100%
