Winter Sowing... What's sprouting #3

(Anita) Fort Wayne, IN(Zone 6a)

Onewish, did your CB bloom last year? How tall did they get last year? I have a couple that are ready to bloom but they are not what I thought I planted. LoL

it maybe only had 2 flowers on it... and 6 inches tall... this year it's much taller over 2'... but skinny.. hoping it will be better next year

Anita, Onewish posted the picture of her CB. Mine bloomed the first year. Each plant had more and more blooms right up to freezing. They were just ugly. After seeing Onewish's CB that bloomed this year I have hope that mine will be the color I thought it was suppose to be.

Last year I recall some folks posting pics of CB when they first opened, and they were disappointed with them too. But some posted later pics after the blooms had matured, and the color had improved- the muddiness diminished and more pinkish burgundy tones showed.

Yes, mine did as you describe but I guess from all the pictures from T&M and the rest of the vendors we expected more.

I sure would have expected more too! I've got a few planted that I wintersowed, and am glad to have seen the real plants in gardens beforehand, so it won't be so disappointing when they bloom.

Here's one of the Ruds that I WSed. I thought I planted a red gaillardia but it seems to be either the Tiger Eye or Marmalade Rudbeckia. I think the bloom is beautiful.

That is really pretty Anita. Makes me want to get my things in if it ever quits raining.

Thanks Jnette! We are getting rain right now. I have some things I wanted to get planted before the rain but wasn't able to. I have a few more blooms coming. I was so sure I had planted Cherry Brandy however, those blooms don't appear to be red/brown either. I'll post pictures once they bloom.

love the color!!!

Thank you OneWish! I can hardly wait to see what the rest of the blooms loo like. Of course, nothing I planted is blooming into what I thought it would be. I have a couple more pictures. I thought the first plant was an oriental poppy.

And this next picture was supposed to be a peach colored coneflower but it looks like a white coneflower.
