Two or three times this morning it has taken a very long time to get to this site. I'm surprised it is not timing out.
Just thought you would like to know.
Taking a LONG time to get on site!
Thank you - were you getting time out messages, or was it just slow to load?
Did anyone else encounter this problem? (I was only on until about 8 a.m., then off until just now.
Hi Terry, No messages, just a long loading time.
Are you still encountering the problem? (The site seems to be moving a little slow, but my internet connection is currently low, so other sites are also moving sluggish for me.)
I was just experiencing long loading times within the site going from place to place. Let me go off and come back on again.
Time is faster coming on now.

I got the DBE this AM within the DL forum, I clicked the return button and it was fine after that. At times I did find it slow loading.
I also find it slow loading. Not as often as I was but often enough.
Threads have been slow to load all week here (not in any one place or forum, both discussion forums and PF)... not agonizingly slow, but enough to be annoying... taking 5 to 12 seconds to load rather than the second or two it takes when the site is moving well.
Jill, I'm assuming it isn't consistent. (I just clicked "home" and to various forums and threads, and none of them took more than 2 seconds to load.) If you notice it is dragging at specific times that will help us.
I had the same problems as Jill earlier today.
I haven't noticed it being a problem at specific times, just most of the time (like 9 clicks out of 10), and I am online at all sorts of times, as early as 7 am to as late as 2 am.
It's been consistant for me all week. It takes awhile for anything to load on this site. Probably close to a minute. Doesn't matter where I'm at on here it's slow. It's also slow coming onto the site.
pepper, can you try clearing your cache and see if that helps? I'm not personally having any problems navigating, and we're not seeing enough reports of consistent problems to identify a pattern.
The cache isn't my problem, and I'm still having delays... seems to be more with going to and from my home page (clicking on a forum or a watched thread takes several times longer than clicking "skip to new" or clicking on a photo within a thread).
Same here. Cache isn't problem and it's just like critter says in the above post.
What browers are you both/each running?
Firefox, whatever the latest greatest updated version is
IE, lastest version. Its been slow off and on since the transfer to IB. It's a bit faster than it was in the beginning but it's nowhere near what ir was before. Occasionally it is but not very often.
Well, unfortunately the browser isn't a common factor. I have tried to replicate the delays and outages each time they're reported, but I can't.
And without something concrete to show the tech team, it is difficult for them to pinpoint a problem (especially when it isn't widespread...and just a few reports means these are pretty isolated incidents :-(
It's frustrating but I know you guys are doing what you can.
I wonder how many people are experiencing similar delays and just not posting to report them... With what I'm seeing, if I hadn't known there had been problems recently, I might not bother reporting... the delays aren't long enough to cause my browser to time out; it's just not as quick as it could/should be. (I've had periods where every click goes through in a second or two, sometimes even in a fraction of a second... so I notice when it takes 5 to 10 seconds, but it's not taking 20-30 seconds, either.)
I'll try to pay closer attention to when/where it's a problem, as well as when things move quickly.
If it were truly a widespread problem, we would be hearing about it from every corner of the world ;o) (When we've had outages, I've gotten emails in my personal email box, phone calls, etc.)
Please understand I'm not dismissing your concerns - I know it is frustrating. And it is frustrating for the tech team when they can't see the problem, or know why it's happening.
We'll keep pressing on - obviously the more details (specific time and exactly where you were and what you were opening or clicking on (links help much more than descriptions).
Meanwhile, I'll resort to the technique I used when I had a slower connection... opening multiple tabs so that by the time I'm done reading one thing another has loaded.
It does seem to be a DG issue for me, as most other sites load very quickly... and DG does also, from time to time. I appreciate your trying to get everything working better & faster for us!
Verrrryyy slow to get into the site tonight. I was afraid it was going to time out. I dont think I have every had that much of a delay. I am using IE, latest version.
I haven't been able to load any photos since IB took over. Well, I take that back. No photos show up on the first time I click in on any of the usual forums in my watch list. If I want to see a photo and click on it, it sits there and sits there and sits there until I finally give up and click on the back button. I've tried this in many of the different forums on my watch list. It sure is frustrating not being able to view the photos. I'm using Firefox 3.6.3.

Janet, have you checked your referrers? That can cause a problem with photos not being visible.
I was having the problems, just not reporting it. Figured it would be fixed quickly. It happened several days this week.
I've been experiencing delays for at least a month. We have high speed internet through our cable provider but it's not slow on other sites like it is here on DG. I've logged out of DG many times because it just takes so long to load pages. I was wondering if it had something to do with the change over to IB's systems.
I use both Safari and Firefox and still have the problem whenever I'm on DG. I don't have any delay logging into the site, it seems to accept my login quickly, but once I'm here it's like pulling teeth going from thread to thread or anywhere site wide.
I figure it will all work out eventually ... and maybe I will learn a little patience in the process ... although my husband would say there's a slim chance of that happening! ^_^
"Janet, have you checked your referrers?"
Terry, I have no idea what a referrer is. I just know that it's painfully slow to try and see photos, which I've always enjoyed here so much. I have been watching the coleus forum and there are so many great thumbnails teasing me there. It got so frustrating that I just shut down DG and went on about my business.
I haven't been logged out in forever, so it's not a log in issue. I might have should have started another thread since it really doesn't pertain to the thread subject. But I was here and you all were too. :-)
I have been gone all day and haven't had a chance to check any of the photos this evening. I just opened another window in Firefox and it seems to be working rather well now, so whatever you did to fix it, leave it alone! HAHAHA It's working!
Janet
I'm on Firefox now and everything seems to be running quickly and smoothly! Yay!!!
Running smoothly and quickly last night and today. I don't know what the fix is but don't mess with it!! LOL!!
I don't think they did anything special, but whether they did or not - if it's working faster, that's good news!
