Morning Glories 2010 #03

Very nice blooms Joseph!

Very nice blooms too Becky!!

My first blooms this season. Took a bunch of pictures but all came out blurry except one! I think it's Hatsu Arashi.

I like the blue in that flower Helena. It's as intense as Akatsuki no Umi blue.

Gautier, MS

Thanks Joseph, I'm growing that one too but it's going to be awhile before I get blooms from my other vines. Here's another pic I took a little while ago.

Love that blue Helena. Joseph, the only difference I can see between
no Umi and Hatsu Arashi is that no Umi has variegated leaves
and Arashi's are all green. I remember one time someone sent in a
comparison pic of no Umi, Hatsu, and a 3rd look-alike which was
also gorgeous. Unfortunately, I can't remember it's name.

Helena - Your Hatsu Arashi is gorgeous! That color of blue is just amazing, isn't it?!

Jackie - I have to agree with you about the blue I. nil cultivars. All are very similar. The blue on Blue Asagao Willow looks similar to me as well. But I've never grown them at the same time for comparison.

My Weeping MG (Sidare) from Colin bloomed today! It was much prettier than I was expecting.

And here is Jackie's Fuji no Sora cross. Really a beautiful sky blue color of the blooms!

I don't know why, but it is taking forever to upload photos to DG and Cubits, so I decided to post more photos here: http://cubits.org/MG/thread/view/18689/

Becky, I do like Sidare, pretty little bloom.
Looks like my cross bloom almost reverted back to Fuji no
Sora. The white bars are not quite as pronounced as they would be on
no Sora. Very pretty bloom color.

Thanks Jackie and Becky. Your blooms are awesome Becky!!

I have a few of those too Jackie so I'm looking forward to the blooms later on.

No telling what we will get Helena. I'm just now planting my cross seeds.
Can't wait to see your bloom. Looks like I need to plant a couple of those sds. I might get a no sora look a like and the Hamaginga type bloom.
Becky, I hope you get to try another seed from the cross, I know you
wanted this pattern.

I love those blues, Helena and Becky and Jackie. I can't wait to see what I get from all the ones I have planted so far..

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Jackie - I LOVE that Hamaginga type bloom in your photo! I will try another seed if the one I am growing currently doesn't show the cross pattern like your photo.

Here is a collage of some of my recent blooms. I've individual photos on the Cubits website.

Nice blooms Helena. Is your tiny bloom Merremia sibirica?

Gautier, MS

Thanks Jackie, yes that is Merremia sibirica. It had several more blooms that I only noticed after another walk around to make sure I didn't miss any more blooms.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Jackie and Helena -Thanks for the ID on that one! Cute little bloom!

I hope all you Moms had a lovely day!

Gautier, MS

Great pic Helena and I love all the different colors in
the bloom.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Helena - Once you get that first bloom on each vine, it seems like they really start putting on a flower show! :-) Can't wait to see more of yours!

Jackie - Any buds or blooms on your babies?

Gautier, MS

Thanks, Jackie and Becky. I'm looking forward to all my blooms too!!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Becky,No buds yet. I have 20 or so in the 3 in peat pots, ready to set them, pot and all in the tall 6 inch pots.
Getting ready to try feeding them to rush things along.
My pandy is looking good climbing the fence. 5 header stems
working their way to the fence. I am clearing more fence line
hoping I can get 15 to 20 various mg's planted on the fence, less work for an old lady. lol
You have lots of gorgeous blooms already.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I love the blooms posted so far. I love that merrimia siberica it is so dainty. I have buds forming on alot, and lots of twining going on.. excited to post pics of everyones seeds from swap as soon as I see something.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Eager to see your blooms Debra. I know you will have some beauties.
Here's my 1st planting, waited too long to pot these up so they're not blooming yet. Planted 3/21/10

Jackie - Your MG vines are doing great! Look at all of them! Awesome!!!! I waited too long to pot mine up this Spring, too. They went into shock briefly, but recovered nicely and have been blooming quite nicely ever since. Can't wait to see your blooms! Your fence is going to be a show stopper this year! :-) :-)

Debra - How many MGs are you currently growing? Did I ask this question earlier? LOL! I know I've been meaning to ask you if I hadn't already. Old age ... can't remember! LOL!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Becky. I've burned the lvs on my 2nd set of mg babies.
Set them out in the sun and promptly forgot them. Hopefully
they will keep growing and I will get plenty of healthy lvs to replace the burned ones.
I have 25 more seeds I need to start.

Jackie - I hope your vines recover from their bad sunburn. Keep us posted!

MGMan - Nice young vines! Pink, blue, and tie-dye pink!!! Should look beautiful when they all bloom!

Well, I have good news! I am officially a grandma! My first grandchild - a girl - was born today at 3:46 pm. Her name is Jasmine and she was 5 lbs. 7 oz. She was 5 weeks early, but is currently doing very well. She was c-section birth and mom is doing well, too!

Baby looks like her mommy ... and daddy is thrilled to have a brand new baby daughter! Most amazingly, the teacher I work with showed up today at school to talk with the sub teacher. 10 minutes before she came in, I got a call from my son telling me that his wife was at the hospital and they were going to do a c-section. I knew I couldn't get a sub so late in the work day, but the teacher showed up and told me to GO!!!! She would stay until the end of the class and all the students leave! So, I was outta there! I got to be with my DIL and son until she went into surgery. Because the baby was a preemie, we couldn't see her, but hopefully tomorrow. My son got pictures on his digital camera so we could see her. She is adorable! It's been quite the day. My son was working and his wife's water broke early in the day. From there everything happened pretty quickly! But in the end, everyone is fine and I am soooo relieved! It's been a journey the past 2 months and I have been really worried about my DIL and the baby. I had a feeling all along that the baby was going to come early. Between her job and having gestational diabetes, she was high risk. But everyone is fine much to my relief and prayers. :-) :-) :-)

Becky, Congrats on becoming a new grandma. You'll love it.
So happy that new mom and baby are both ok

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Necky, Congratulations! I know you and your family will love having a baby in it. Especially as a Granddaughter!
Jackie and MGMAN your vines look awsome. Mine are going. I have no idea how many. I will have to take inventory when I get a few minutes from work. I planted quite a few of Backys, Jackies, Mittsys, Jospehs, and guamsorbits. I am still waiting on some to show from others.

Gautier, MS

Congratulations Becky, I agree with Jackie! You'll love being a grandma!!
