GP, I love that first shot of the Red-bellied Woodpecker looking at you from the wisteria; so cute!!! They are all nice shots and I love the immature male is so sweet!

Hack, Sorry to hear about your Mom. I hope her recovery is a speedy one! Love the Mockingbird and especially that 3rd shot of the Grackle. The water looks almost like fireworks!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Gp...nice trio shot there!

Hack...I also hope your mom does okay. Like the bath shots, they are so funny to watch!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Hack, welcome back. Sorry to hear of the news on your Mom. Enjoyed your pics. Gardenpom has shown a nice series. Burn your Robin looks so pretty.

Cedar Waxwings returned to my backyard 3 days in a row. They must be after grape-hollies in the neighborhood. The hollies' are not quite ripe yet at this time. Whatever the reason that keeps the birds here. I'm all for it.

Thanks for the new thread Sally and thanks everyone for all the contributions to this fast moving thread.

Hack...so glad to see you back and happy to know that your Mama is gonna be allright. Love those birdbath shots!!

No pics to share as we have been tied up with "farm stuff"!! Don't know how we ever had time to milk and care for over 100 head of cattle!!

Right now I am like Nanny...waiting for the spring birds to arrive.

Marlton, NJ

Hi Rose, Thanks for stopping in, I've been thinking of you often lately. Take Care! (((HUGS))), Pelle

Pelle, I have yet to see a an European Starling in close up. Boys their coloring is stunning! I guess beauties are abound, we just have to look for them.

Norman, OK

Be careful what you wish for. :-)

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Red, lol. You're going to join our group aren't you? I hope Al will too and many others.

South Hamilton, MA

I do not consider starlings 'beautiful'. they are a nuisance bird & drive native birds away.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

I'm very excited to have seen this Common Loon again this spring. The bird can really hold its breath under water for an extended time, and quite a distance does it travel! 50-100 feet at each diving trip. So cool!

It's a dreary, cold, rainy spring day here. I was bored. Sitting here listening to Hank, Jerry Jeff, Robert Earle et al and conversing with my old friend Jack D from Tennessee. The rain stopped and I decided to go out and check the bluebird eggs since this is my target date.

Blue skies returned the moment I opened the box. First little hatchling. It is lying face down on the other eggs. If you look closely, you can see signs of piping on 3 other eggs.

So good to see the Common Loon Lily!

Aww, Congrats Grandpa!!! Very sweet!

Norman, OK

Thanks, pelle. I'm passing out cyber cigars in celebration.

Never seen one of the Lark Sparrows on a feeder before. Maybe he wanted off the wet ground.

Arhhhhh, how sweet is that! Congrats Red. The baby is so so fragile looking. Look at that turf of 'hair'. The sparrow is sharp looking!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Oh yes, then there was this pretty Osprey along the way.

Boys, was I blind. I just now put 2 and 2 together. b/w what Iris'es and Red's remark were about the Starlings. Okay, okay. I heard what you said. I will stop wishing away. lol.

Marlton, NJ

Red, Thats very cool to have the Lark Sparrow at your feeder!

Nice Osprey Lily!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Thank you Nan for the Robins' pics. Rarely can I capture a pic. of them. Much too fast for me.

Klamath River, CA

This is the first Tree Swallow I've seen this year that is starting a nest. There are several other swallows here, but they haven't started to nest yet.

Pelle, our orioles will all stay through September when their young will be old enough to continue their migration.

Lily, cute thrasher!!

Elphaba, hope you got that feeder filled for the finches!

Nanny, I don't think your House Finch is ugly-maybe just a little homely.LOL Love that grackle among the blossoms!! Wonderful photos of the robin.

GP, your red-bellied is adorable. Wonder who was receiving all those pretty blooms. Love those jays!! Gee, those Painted Buntings must be beautiful to see in person.

Hack, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom's illness. I hope she'll continue to get well and stronger. I've missed your pictures. Loved the photos of the grackle bathing.

Burn, awesome osprey picture of the Mr and Mrs. Cute pigeon couple and the robin is a cutie.

Pelle, I love that beautiful Starling. It sure looks pretty in the grass.

Rose, I'm been missing your beautiful photos too. Glad you checked in with us.

Lily, I had no idea a loon could go that far under water. It's amazing what I've learned from this board. Great sighting of the osprey.

Red, your little hatchling is "priceless". Congratulations "Gramps"!

"Give them water and they'll come"-I put the table-top fountain out on the front deck and not an hour later, the birds started coming and fighting for space in the water. Here's a House Finch and a White crowned Sparrow.

This is one of our resident Tree Swallows.

One of these swallows gave the other a feather and that bird later brought it up to the house above them.

Meanwhile in the backyard, this Bullock's Oriole wouldn't allow another bird near this bath until he was done.

Now you know why we have 5 birdbaths and could use more.

Cute turtle Lily!!

Wonderful pics duc! Love the profile of the Tree Swallow! All the birds look so cute at the bird baths; wow 5 of them?

Adel, Nice shot, Thats a long piece she is taking in.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Awesome pics. with clarity. Duc. I love them all. Especially the Swallows with a feather as gift. The Oriole submerged under the shallow water. Those really are having a ball!

Adel your pics. reminds me .... Today I returned to the bridge where I saw many Cliff Swallows last summer. Last couple of weeks, they were not there. But they just now return, and began building their nests.

This is the beginning of their nest building. I shall follow up next weekend to see how much houses they would have built by then.

I am getting very jealouse of all the swallo pics...I mean this is the best I have gotten so far of a swallow! LOL
