DAILY PICS vol 309

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Hi Margaret, long time no type. Here is one of your well liked birds from the US. The Redheaded Woodpeckers, let me tell you these are having a serious family discussion this morning. There were more than two of them gathering here and were quite vocal. I even noticed one tries to discipline another. lol (I hope this is the correct pic. of a pair of them).

I got down to the creek, and yahoo! Finally some warblers are showing up. There were many Common Yellow-throat.

Pardon, tigerlily, we crossed posted. Wow, the Bandtail Pigeon is so determined to get a good meal-- doesn't matter what! LOL. The Y-t. Warbler is so so sweet.

Okay, let try this photo (again) for MargaretK.

Sally, thanks for the new start.

Too many wonderful photos for me to comment on, so I'll just say WOW to all of them. I just love the variety from all the different areas of the country.

This is the first photo I've been able to get of the Hooded and the Bullock's Orioles.

Beautiful pic. of the lovely Orioles Duc.

Tiger, That is such a cool catch of the Bandtail Pigeon!!! We rarely see them posted here, thanks. love the Common Yellowthroat too!! The Swallow shot is wonderful!!

Lily, Nice job getting the pic of the 2 Red-headed Woodpeckers!! I wonder what the serious discussion was all about?

Duc, Thanks for posting the excellent shot of the 2 different Orioles!!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Pelle, they may just be gregarious to one another. I've came to be so fond of them I wished if there is a way we can mount a webcam to observe their nest and all the activity going around their "home". lol.

Like these lovebirds as if one was whispering to the other "Honey, stay close to me on our journey North". Assuming they're migrating North? lol

Ahhh, Lily, the lovebirds look so sweet.

There was a slight bit of sun when I took this photo of my Bullock's Oriole.

Tiger...that heart sjot is so sweet!

Duc...awesome shot of the 2 different orioles!

Lily, Sweet Waxwing shot!!

Duc, I love all your birds! How long do the Orioles stay with you?

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Brown Thrashers must be having babies. I've noticed they are guarding their nesting area more often. They will hide themselves in the shrubs for instance when the gardener is weeding nearby. Here it's perching on a branch of Cherry tree to look for food. It looks as if it's looking right at the camera however.

Very cute Lily!!! You have a great bird environment around you.

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

I thought this thread just started and it's halfway gone already! and WOW what amazing birds and photos. BLOWN AWAY by the WOODCOCK. That is the coolest bird CHRIS! Congrats VA WILD ROSE on the eagles and the heron with fish. I dream of heron with fish shots! DUC, are you makin' a field guide b/c that HOODED/BULLOCKS picture should be in a book! TOWHEES! Congrats ROCKMINER and NANNY. Nanny, that pic of the PILEATED with wings spread is just fantastic. TIGERLILY, your pigeon cracked me up. I bought a little feeder just for the Cardinals, but I have been very amused by the White-Winged Doves who have proven to be quite ingenious! Don't you think the Common Yellowthroat should be called the UNcommon Yellowthroat?

How sad is it when a beautiful little bird comes to your feeder for the first time in a long time and it's empty! Weird thing is that I was just asking about an old pic of house finches on the ID forum and then a pair shows up this afternoon.

Elphaba, Nice shot! I know, isn't it crazy how fast these threads go?

I'll get the duplicate post deleted.

PERTH, Australia

Aww, thanks for the Woodpecker, Lily_love.

Tiger, I don't think I've ever seen a pigeon in a similar position before. Good capture.

Duc,all good. The two orioles together is really good for someone who doesn't know their Hooded's from their Bullock's.

I hope your little finch came back, Elphaba. It looks puzzled.

Well, I'm back. Mama had a mild stroke and that's had me, and the family, tied up. Thankfully, It was a mild one and she is recovering at home with daddy. She's 79 and he's 83. He's kinda like Frank of "Everybody Loves Raymond" - household-challenged. The pics I'm posting were taken just prior to her emergency.

This one is of a Mockingbird at the Peanut Suet feeder. The feeder next to it contains Berry Suet. Today, I re-loaded the Peanut suet, but the berry was still like you see it here, days later. Clearly, the Peanut suet is the favorite around here.

My last one.

After they sized each other up, this Chipping Sparrow and male Cardinal ignored each other, as they feed in the same immediate vicinity.

Sorry to hear about your mother's stroke Hack, but glad she'll be ok. Bird do like their water don't they.
We'll be getting the pond going tomorrow, to attract some song birds.
Some interesting shots on this thread.
I saw 5 occupied Osprey nest, on my way down to Moncton this week. Even saw a mating couple, but my pic of it isn't good. And seen an eagle and that too turned out lousy.
So I will share one that can be viewed ok.
