Enlighten me on Greece or send me some place to read.
Money Matters - Part 2
They're broke and close to defaulting.
Gas jumped this am to $2.85. They drop it slowly over the week and then jump it up after the weekend.
I hate yo-yo pricing.
Market was down big because of Greece.
Portugal, Spain and Italy may follow...
Gas rose to $3.03 here this am.
I don't think there's much 'may'.
This oil disaster will only hurt an already fragile economy. More bad news.
it'll be the excuse they used to increase fuel prices. It will hurt.
It may actually affect output, which would increase the cost.
Bummer.
That stinks.
Even better. The puppy? Things show up in the yard. A bear pillow that got pulled apart. OK a toy, no problem. Then a Kentucky Fried Chicken box with a bunch of trash all over the yard. OK - pick it up. Then a bull or cow lead. I never see the puppy leave the yard.
I just went down to the GH for 20 mins. and another bag showed up all chewed on the lawn with THIS. GOOD GRIEF
OH NO!!!! That can't be good.
Tomorrow I go for training to be a Census enumerator. I learned why they mailed those notes telling us to expect the census in the mail soon. It actually gets lots more people to mail back their census forms. So many, that it's worth it. If everyone sent them back, they wouldn't have to hire people like me to go door to door to get the info.
Great!!!
Good luck, Harp. I don't buy that explanation, though. Only about 63% returned them. Be careful - a number of census workers have been killed in auto accidents already.
Market is hemorrhaging again because of Greece and Europe. Another large looming threat that no one seems to be discussing is China. They are experiencing unsustainable growth and a real estate bubble. When it goes, it will damage the entire world economy.
sounds like us!
Yes - they didn't learn.
Nope, they never do.
Yes - please get younger. ^_^
63%? Is that out of the entire country? I'll be careful driving. Everyone should be careful driving!
Yes, that's the national response rate. Pretty bad. I would guess it was higher in the past. But not surprising, given how low the voter turnout is. People are more into voting for American Idol.
Today in class they warned that the tea baggers are already giving census takers trouble. Maybe they didn't send theirs in?
I have been getting a very large water bill every quarter, so these last few months we cut back in every possible way on water and still the bill is high. We don't use sewer, only water. It totals out to $900 a year. Is that normal? There's three of us in the house and I don't water the garden.
I heard that a lot of minorities have been unwilling to respond to the census for fear of being harassed.
I'll go out on a limb and say that illegals will be more of a problem than tea-baggers. The media keeps painting them as lunatics, yet there has not been any violence at any of their demonstrations. That's thousands and thousands of people. A few of the pro-illegal alien marches over the weekend turned violent, yet that's not even reported.
That sounds a bit high for three people, but not outrageous. Ours is about $700.
Definitely high. I'm thinking about going to town hall to see what's up. I'm the only one who's ever home. Wait. Which is more efficient, washing dishes in a machine or by hand? Now that I think of it, DH, The Slow Chef, spends hours doing the dishes... hmmm... that could be it.
Edited for spelling.

Do you only go to homes that did not send in the form at all, or also to follow-up??? I wrote in 'human' in answer to the race question. Wonder if I'll get a visit. Obama checked Black, not mixed race. Isn't it supposed to be filled out honestly and accurately???
What about your son? Teens and showers.

Back to the census, if people don't want to fill out the form when you visit, do you 'do a head count' yourself?? Do you guess at race, ethnicity, etc.? How do you know who's not home, who's just visiting, etc.??
I have to ask my brother how he filled out his census. My sil is black so I wonder if he did 'mixed' for the kids.
Trying to decide whether or not to challenge my property tax assessment. They usually take something off if you do.
I would if it was increased, since property values have decreased.
