For all things financial, this is the place.
I'm growing this.
Money Matters - Part 2
Now that's the kind of 'green' I like! (lol!)
I know where you live!
I want some seedlings! hee hee!
Anyone get the emails that they are waiting to send you 850,000 from Nigeria or where ever. Somehow I am getting them in my yahoo mail. I reply to them.
Keep selling my email address as I love to tell you - YOUR A SUCK A$$ SCAMMER :-)
another one where they wont get back to you.
Just set up the banking account and give me the password and everything and I will split the money with you. :-)
This year I owe. Kids are getting too old now to help us out with deductions.
My dad always joked about my being born 11 1/2 hrs too late for a deduction! I said, 'Blame Mom!'
When we were in DC last week and walking to the National Cathedral, I caught sight of a beautiful structure, nicely manicured with beautiful flowering trees. It looked like a college to me. As I got close, I could not believe my eyes. It was owned by Fannie Mae! The crooks who played a pivotal role in the financial collapse. They're still living this well. Sickening.
Wow! The lucky guys... looks like a beautiful place!
You paid for it!
... wonder when they'll send me the keys? (lol)

Don't know if you're following the inquiry into the financial collapse, but all the witnesses are singing the same tune - wasn't my fault. Greenspan, Rubin, bank CEO's. What a joke.
Rubin may very well be the one individual with the most blood on his hands. First, as Treasury Secy he shot down regulating derivatives and eliminated the 'wall' between traditional banking and riskier financial stuff that had been in place since the depression. Then, he was an influential board member of Citi as they took on more and more of the risky loans and products. But he claimed he could not have possibly known what was going on. This is a guy who was CEO of Goldman and was as much of a Wall St insider as you can get. Yet he claims he did not know anything.
Same old story - no one will face the music. The new financial regulation bill making its way through the Senate gives MORE power to the Fed. It's beyond belief.
2 Years ago Jim got a small loan from Citi Financial and a credit card with a limit of 500 dollars. He wanted to establish his credit as he never had none, now he does. Anyways shortly after, the letters started coming - Want to borrow more money? You can receive up to 150,000 guarenteed! Then the phone calls, calls after calls and letters after letters.
He would of got the loan but they needed us to put the house up to receive it. I told Jim - dont even think about it, no way.
I finally let loose on the phone calls. I told them that no way was the house going up and to get it out of their ...................... Heads. I had to get mean 3 times before the calls stopped. At that time the economy was starting to go down.
If they knew what was going on they should have taken their millions and moved to Argentina before it happened!
I doubt they're struggling.
I saw somewhere that even the so called experts had no idea that these risky loans would lead to failer. It's sad when finacial experts don't understand how things work!
True, but what makes it worse and unforgivable is that they had fair warning - many times. In 1999, there was a failure in Long Term capital Management. The markets freaked out briefly, but then all was forgotten. The failure was entirely due to the use of these derivatives.
I saw no sign of the recession in Disney.
There never is!
I had an interesting email back and forth with the chief financial reporter on the NYT. I was critical of parts of an article he did but he was cool about replying.
I'm glad you're on the case Victor! How long will it take to fix the world economy?
-Now that you know what's wrong with it, (lol).
- Spirit airlines announced this week it is going to charge up to $45 for each carry on bag.
- RYAN airlines (UK), is going to remove all but 1 lavatory on it's short flights and has asked Boeing to manufacture coin operated lavatories which will require you to use a token worth $1.50, (1 British pound), to use the lavatory on it's planes.
(That's 1 lavatory for ~ 180 passengers)
That's crazy
start peeing in the barf bag and they might let you use one for free.
This is despicable, though it's hard to believe even desperate job hunters fall for this.

Any job offer that tells you to fork over your credit card number or make you buy something to get started (other than a uniform) is always bogus. Those creeps have been doing that forever, there are just more unemployed now.
Speaking of being unemployed, I had a serious interview on Monday. They'll let me know by Friday. Wish me luck. I hope I get this.
Good luck!
Good luck, Harp!
Interesting poll results - 45% of Americans say their Fed income taxes are 'just about right'. This comes days after the report that 47% don't pay any at all. Connection??
Best wishes, Harper!!!
V, probably!!!
(I ♥ tax time! Yipee!!☺!)
- Good luck Harper!
Compared to my state taxes, I'd say the Fed taxes I pay are better than "about right". But if somebody gave me a choice, I'd gladly pay less for both. (Grumpy face)
As I posted earlier, this was the first time I did not do my own taxes. An accountant did them. I had a strong feeling throughout last year that the amount he was telling us to pay quarterly Fed taxes was too high. Well, we got out return and boy was I right. By far the largest refund ever - even more than the year I got the solar tax credits. Ridiculous! Held all year interest-free by Uncle Sam.
Thanks everyone! I couldn't sleep last night, I was so filled with thoughts about how I probably botched the whole interview.
What type of job, Harp?
Some state parks may be closing

Carpet design, same thing I've been doing, except it's with a smaller firm, so I'd have more responsibility and more room for creativity - good things!
Hope you get it!
I did hear that, WC. Been happening all over the country.
good luck harper!!
Thanks guys!
