So what's going on in your vegetable garden right now?!

Sparta , TN(Zone 7a)

LOL I remember doing that

Sarge

Honestley - dont know. Watered every morning. In this heat, wish I had 2 water melons

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

one of my garbage can potatoes have buds... the other does not yet

Malvern, PA(Zone 6b)

No flowers but taters getting taller.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I don't have flowers on my tomatoes. Is that normal or should they be blooming by now. They're about 3 feet high and crowding out the basil I planted them with.

Thomaston, CT

Should be blooming, Harper......mine have many little green toms on them....are they getting a lot of shade?

I have tomatoes also and I am in zone 5. As if the zones really matter with this heat!

Sparta , TN(Zone 7a)

My maters are going crazy I have 23 plants and they are finaly puting big maters on & the cherry maters are plum full of lil maters doing the happy dance ....

Yes, that's unusual, Harp. Any fertilizer? Bees around?

Thomaston, CT

Sometimes too much fertilizer will give you big plants, but few tomatoes.....my Dad always did this, I always told him to stop fertilizing....he never listened, picked my tomatoes instead.

Sparta , TN(Zone 7a)

They were started late and yes juiced M Grow all of them have maters on the now
The Big Dawg (S&R Farm Brand Maters) are as Big as you fist now , the Cherry Maters have at least a 100 or so on them now . yes the honey bees have found my Garden and it is doing well.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I don't fertilize at all, but sometimes it's needed if the soil is not good.

Sparta , TN(Zone 7a)

I do so for the Boost and to help them git started as seedlings and mid plants and once as thay start puting on fruit they seam to do better. and put out more and fare better .

Cherry Maters

Thats what cow manure is for... I have not fertilized in 3-4 weeks

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Thanks onewish. I was thinking mine should be blooming by now but if yours are just starting I will be more patient. I add compost and poop to the soil in my tomato pots in the tomato house. Cherrys are full size but still green. Larger ones are coming but little.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

My potatoes were in flower when we returned from Florida 3 weeks ago, I added more straw and potting mix then, but none since. Missing 3 weeks at the beginning of the season hurts. Most of the plants I had started in our nursery area dried up from neglect and it was too late to restart them. I bought replacements for a few, herbs and peppers mostly, even those pickings were slim to none at most places. Ric

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

That's too bad Ric :(

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

If I don't get tomatoes because of over fertilization, I'll barf! Grrrr....

In a raised bed full of top soil, I added from the brand Espoma: garden manure, garden lime and potash according to the amount on the label.

ohhh - so you will know what I felt like last year :-/

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

We have a zillion maters forming, some of the cherries are tuning yellow (suppose to) and we have yellow squash, cukes, fennel bulbs and green peppers almost ready for later in the week. Some of the green tomatoes are almost ready to be picked and fried. Peaches are still on the tree, which is a first for us as they normally shrink up and fall off. Fingers crossed. Patti

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Watching my peaches apprehensively too.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Victor, so we are having a Peach Vigil? Patti

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes. So far, it's been the pits.

What about a Pit Palooza

Thomaston, CT

BAD! Seem to have many apples this year, but no pears....off year for the ancient tree.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

no t's here yet - tons of blooms - lot's of plum's on the tree

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Someone told me I should add potassium and that rose food would do in a pinch. I think I have some Rose Tone.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

I've got toms and flowers coming.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I had 2 tomatoes on the plant in a pot on the deck... almost ripe... got home from work.. and some critter stole them

:(

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Have had a few cherrry toms and zucchini. Banana peppers ready soon. Picked a handful of beans yesterday. Lost some beans to bunnies. Is it too late to plant more beans? Jeff put up some chicken wire yesterday. Nothing like doing it after the fact. I had told him earlier I didn't think we needed it, but you know what they say " If you build it they will come."

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Jan23, we did the same thing last year with the rabbit fence. Day late and a dollar short. But we did put it up and then left it up. This spring DH strung 500 more feet of rabbit fence at the base of the deer fence which surrounds the whole part of the property that most of the flower and veggie beds are in. The rabbits were eating through the deer fence and eating everything. Double duty. No rabbits. Knock wood

We ate yellow squash last night. Figure we might start eating even the little guys before they turn into baseball bats. I might send some down to Fla for the Red Sox to use. Painful last 2 nights. Patti

i hope all of you getting veggies right now planted store bought plants - all of mine are seed grown and still have some growoing to do - we do have a half dozen store bought eggplant with fruit right now - most of the ones from seed did not germinate.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I was wondering that too wha. Pepper already! WOW! I got too busy and forgot to start peppers this year but got two plants from a friend so I will have a few sweet peppers (I hope). They are just forming flower buds now so it will be a bit.

Thomaston, CT

Only my toms & peppers came from the nursery, everything else is seed grown....am picking 2 kinds of squash, beets, & carrots..... cukes & beans will be ready soon.

That's another reason I don't start veggies form seeds.

I'll start a new thread.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i saw some baby tom's last night!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

So did I!! Turns out, I did have flowers, I just didn't look close enough. Now I have a new problem. I planted my sweet 100's (indeterminate) just south of my Rutgers (determinate). The sweet 100's are already a foot taller than the Rutgers. I'm concerned they're going to shade them out. Also, the sweet 100's are starting to crest my cage. Sigh... guess I have to rig some kind of taller support.

Thomaston, CT

I have Black Cherry doing the same thing.
