So what's going on in your vegetable garden right now?!

Thomaston, CT

Mmmm, me too!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

I'd love to use more of it, but DH doesn't like it so much. Isn't it good for your heart - pressure and bad cholesterol? If so, he may be more inclined to eat it. He doesn't want to do Lipitor and he's about maxed out on what he can do naturally. He is also, now, cutting WAY back on salt and caffeine.

AYC, how do you fix your swiss chard?

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Just steamed it and put it on top of millet. I like baking it in the oven sprinkled with kosher salt until it is like chips, too.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Thanks.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - many health benefits, Jan, including keeping vampires away. ^_^

My mom prepares chard with tomato sauce, garlic and olive oil. Not sure what else, but it is delish!

That's the way I made the chard, Victor...not often because it was the only thing Doug wouldn't eat.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Thank you.

An Italian restaurant we used to go to used to just sautee it in garlic, olive oil and prosciutto. Was out of this world!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

YUMM.....

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I put the young leaves in with lettuce for salads.

Sparta , TN(Zone 7a)

I like the wilted onion & lettuce salad with Bacon crumbled on it and Hot grease poured over it . Granny and Pa made this a bunch at super time with Hamburger Stake, Gravey, Mash Taters, Fresh Green beans , Sliced Maters, fryed corn and Sweet Tea.
what a meal .

Mouth is watering everyone....

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

harvested some lettuce the other day for our burgers. Everything else is just growing.

Hallowell, ME

My mom used to do the wilted lettuce thing - loved it. It goes along with that meal you described Sarge. Polk salat was on the menu too and sometimes black-eyed peas with a little fat back. Haven't had any of that in years!!!!!

Sparta , TN(Zone 7a)

Ok frank ,

I am not the only one that had a flash back moment then ... I dont feel so bad posten my dinner thoughts .

Thomaston, CT

Pretty to look at...have never tried them.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Ah ha, trapped the little bugger (ground hog), and relocated him to a bucolic distant place. Down a dirt road with little traffic, fewer houses, near a stream, woods and a power line. Should be GH heaven even without my redbeets and cole plants.
The new beans are great in stir fry. Ric

I've picked my first summer squash....small tomatoes...everything else is blossoming.

Tomatoe all ready!

Hallowell, ME

Picked all snap peas. Had some beet greens. Small green tomatoes are on with more to come. Beans and squash coming along fine. Corn is knee high. All ready planning next years garden (lol)!!!!!

Thomaston, CT

My toms are still green, too. Today picked 2 nice sized beets.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Sarge, I don't think there are any more GHs. I did reset the trap, and nothing yet. The one I caught had set up house in my barn. Usually when that happens there is only one. Oh by the way this is Ric, I use Holly's login but always try to remember to sign my post. Ric

BTY Welcome to the NE.
